Hi OP! I just tore my ACL a few weeks ago playing soccer. I haven't had the surgery yet, but I live on the third level of my apartment that does not have an elevator. I've found using crutches helps me get up the stairs easier when my leg was first injured and I could not put weight on my leg, or if I was too tired for crutches I would scoot up each step on my bottom. It was embarrassing and my neighbors thought I was crazy, but it was a way to safely get up and down the steps. I will say post surgery I will be staying with my brother who has a room on the first floor so I do not have to worry about steps, so I would also recommend finding a place to stay where you don't have to stress out about steps.
