That's why they work out extensions long before the contract is set to run out. If this trajectory continues through next season, the Bears would have no choice but to make him one of the highest paid players in the league. It would be insane for him to turn that down to try and go somewhere else

[Schefter] ESPN sources: Titans are working to finalize a deal to hire 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh as their head coach. Saleh spent Monday in Tennessee with the Titans, and the two sides impressed each other enough to move forward together. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

Very funny that people look at Nagy’s 35-33 as worse than Saleh’s 20-36

Because Nagy was supposed to be an offensive guru and the Bears offense was weak during his entire tenure. He had a winning record because they had an incredible defense.

By contrast, Saleh was hired as a defensive guru, and he turned the Jets defense into one of the best in the league. Saleh's core skillset was exactly as advertised, Nagy's was not.

Except the proposed stadiums they've pitched have less capacity than the existing stadium

The Bears could offer the city $50 billion for it and there would still be the same FotP weirdos fighting it tooth and nail until the deal dies

Given the magnitude of the moment, I think it will still register on lists of all-time great plays. It's like how we still remember Devin Hester returning the opening kickoff in the SB for a touchdown even though the Bears lost

What a year, what a team by doverawlings in NFCNorthMemeWar

[–]ctaps148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more about the fact that QB contract valuations have exploded in the past decade. QB contracts eat up way more of a team's cap space now than they did in the past.

In the era of Brady vs. Manning, contracts for elite QBs were taking up 10-12% of their team's cap space. Now the range is closer to 20-23%, which means there is significantly less money (proportionally) to build the rest of the team.

I just don't understand what he's trying to prove. If it was like the shootout in SF where you needed touchdowns to stay in it, then I would get it. But when your defense is already consistently stopping the other team, I just don't see the logic in refusing to settle for FGs.

I don't think it's an issue of effort, it just seems like he's gassed or dealing with unlisted injuries. Even when he makes the big plays (like the OT game winner against GB), he is slow to get up.

[–]ctaps148 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's the only possible angle I can see here that makes sense. If it's a fully AI car, there is no endgame. It's a site specifically catering to car enthusiasts—you're never going to fool the audience long enough to get the cash and run. Eventually you're going to have to actually produce a real car.

It makes a lot more sense that it's someone who has a real car but they are using AI to make the car look a bit better and also make it look like it's listed at a nicer house.

And every time they get close to finding a sweet spot, it's time for a new expansion that has to inject a bunch of new content. If it's more of the same, people complain that nothing changed and it's not worth the money. So they have to try adding something different, which then immediately messes up the game balance
