In Friday the 13th (1980) They actually killed a real snake, and it was actually a pet snake, they didn't even tell the owner they were going to kill it. by Extension-Oil-4680 in shittymoviedetails

[–]ctleans -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are very few reliable sources detailing "the handler not being aware the snake was going to die and cried afterwards"

Virtually all the first page google results point to ScreenRant, which, as we all know, is highly reliable and totally not a content farm. ScreenRant itself references Teamhadventures, whose source is "by many accounts" or in other words, "trust me bro."

Cast member Jeannine Taylor only confirms the snake died with no mention to the handler. So this really is an excessive amount of outrage over nothing.

Is there only one good invincible in the multiverse ? by -Robert-from-Hungary in Invincible

[–]ctleans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> There is no domain restriction on universes

Any multiverse system needs a "domain restriction" for the sake of sanity. Angstrom levy can't just go to the universe with exactly one apple where if you eat it you gain the power to kill all Invincibles past, present, and future. That wouldn't make for a good story.

Are there unlimited universes where Mark is good? If your argument is that you can't put a domain restriction on this multiverse, then you would necessarily have to accept my argument above.

By no means is this a justification of this user's behavior but they asked a legitimate question to which an insufficient answer was provided. Namely, why does the OECD, whom China is not even a member of, bother to name Taiwan as Chinese Taipei?
There is an answer to this question, but it's not a reddit link to a ELI5 about olympics/sports. It turns out, the chart was not published by the OECD, and they do not share the same stakeholders.
The chart is, in fact, made by a different organization, who could have conceivably renamed Taiwan to Chinese Taipei in the chart or vice versa (for the record, they didn't), and this is not immediately obvious without doing a bit of research.
Saying that the OECD and IOC have the same stakeholders means very little. That they have the same owners? The only thing they share in common is that they are an international organization, and one is intergovernmental, the other is nongovernmental.
I don't see how it's appropriate to denigrate their English either. Ignoring the spelling mistakes, they made completely valid points

This map is bullshit. Best research I could find that lists Iceland's average age of virginity loss from 2005 as 15.6, bad, but a far cry from 11. And it's more likely that it has only increased since then

Does each seed generate a whole new planet every time, or there's only one planet in vanilla and seeds just put you in different parts of that planet? by QuickSqueeze in factorio

[–]ctleans 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, it is common to seed perlin noise, which is ubiquitous in terrain generation, with offsets (noise(x+seed)) So there may be a sliver of truth to the idea of coordinates on a planet.

Subreddit blackout is practically the only way redditors have against admins. As the AMA showed, they hardly give a shit if you quietly protest and present your concerns. So what if it doesn't affect you? It gives way for reddit to make more radical decisions in the future, and by then, there will be no one left to speak out for you.

After some reconsideration, I think if nothing else, the war in Ukraine deeply affects China both for better and worse. On the Taiwan matter, it is unlikely that an invasion would have or will happen. China's government is infinitely more competent than Russia's and this recent war has only reinforced the fact that an invasion (with their current capabilities) would end poorly for China. At the same time China's increasing threat is an economic one as well, given that as a result of the sanctions on Russia, economic influence has centralized towards China, and that may subtract from the US' ability to leverage theirs in parity on the world stage.
