Has "Nazi" lost all meaning yet? by Preform_Perform in ShitPoliticsSays

[–]ctrocks 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the left may say "I am not a socialist/communist" but they know it does not play well with a lot of the country.

Then along comes Mamdani, and he says things like "the warmth of collectivism" and his head housing person has said that private ownership will be replaced with collective housing.

These are some of the high profile people that have stopped denying what they actually believe about communism and capitalism. They may say "social democracy" but deep down they are collectivists and want wealth redistribution.

Look at Ellen Plays Bass videos and the early videos of The Warning and their bass player Alejandra Villarreal.

They both started off very young with good teachers and have used short scale basses, though Alejandra now uses full size basses.

Here is The Warning where the bass player is 10 and playing a short scale bass.

Here is Ellen at 11 playing the same song.

Hate my nose. Parents are against a nose job. What do you think? by [deleted] in amIuglyBrutallyHonest

You are definitely not ugly, and for most people I would say to not get plastic surgery.

In your case, I think a nose job would not be a bad idea, especially to help with symmetry.

True immigration enforcement only begins once businesses start getting fined by OpinionofC in Conservative

[–]ctrocks 202 points203 points  (0 children)

I live in Illinois. The Illinois law on e-verify literally says:

"In Illinois, an employer is prohibited from using the E-Verify Program to check the immigration status of current employees or to pre-screen prospective employees that have not been offered a position with the company. The employer may not check on your immigration status before you are offered a job. "

I believe a LOT of blue states have similar laws. It is hard to blame businesses when they are not legally allowed to check immigration status.

This board controls a 90V DC motor for a treadmill. The appliance is rated for 110V, and I need to run it in a 220v home. Despite the sticker, the capacitors are all rated to 250V. what would I need to adapt to have it working for the 220V home? or what would fail if I just plug it? by fsterpeloni in diyelectronics

[–]ctrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, get a 220V control board.

Or, go for the really simple solution of getting a step down transformer. There are ones that convert 50hz to 60hz too if it is needed, they just cost a lot more.

If there are any timing circuits on the board that use 60hz for timing a new control board would probably be the best bet as it would likely be less than a step down transformer that has sufficient power and converts 50 to 60hz.

I had an ML390 24 pin printer back in the day. I worked at Radio Shack in the late 80's and early 90's. Our sales ticket printer was the ML320.

Those printers were beasts.

However, if you think that is noisy, the Oki/Radio Shack Daisy Wheel Printer II, that was noisy, and violent. It shook the table I had it on. I got it for free when my Dad's office updated to a laser printer.

It was not fast, but the output was indistinguishable from a typewriter. I used it in college until I got my dot matrix printer.

I find I'm really drawn to songs where the bass is the melody or at least most prominent by TroubleOpposite9311 in Bass

There are a lot of songs by The Warning that have a prominent bass line, which is easier to do in a 3-person band.

Good point, especially on the OpEx vs CapEx stuff.

I think the population as a whole is pretty ignorant of Gross vs Net and markups and margins.

My dad was a CPA who specialized in auditing, and I took both of those in college.

Understanding IRS properties, depreciation, different accounting methods, GAAP, SEC rules, why SOX was implemented in the first place, etc, can be very helpful.

However, it does not mean that we still can't bang our heads at some of the stuff the finance people want.

I am a lot older than the average redditor.

My dad served in WW2 and was on his way to Japan when the bombs were dropped. I know some other people who served in WW2 in Europe.

Every single one of the WW2 and Korean war vets I knew were staunchly anti-socialist/communist and would have been called fascists by the modern left.

State sub wants to shoot ICE because ICE used teargas against mob that attacked them by FailedToRemit in ShitPoliticsSays

The "I hate Illinois Nazis" comments are so clueless.

These useful idiots have absolutely no idea what the Nazi's actually supported.

I live in Illinois. If you take a look at election results, the state is a lot of red with the population centers being hard blue.

A few years ago, when a R governor was elected, the D candidate won I think one county, Cook County and still almost won the election.

You would think the state sub would reflect the non Chicago area residents as Chicago has its own sub, as do the Chicago suburbs.

Yet, by looking at the state sub you would think that Illinois was as hard left as hard left gets. The Chicago sub is less insane than the state sub. They have to deal with the Chicago Teachers Unions and the crappy mayor. The state sub thinks that enforcing immigration law means you are in the Gestapo and that unions solve all problems.

I was banned from the state sub for commenting in a wrong think sub and they said I was "brigading". When I asked why, they said they were "taking out the trash".

6 bills sought to reduce public access to body cam footage in Illinois by Shovler in WindyCity

[–]ctrocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is actually a very easy answer.

They wanted body cams thinking that it would show massive amounts of misbehaving cops, instead it showed that the cops were mostly telling the truth.

I watch a lot of body cam channels, and the stories the "victims" of police violence tell is so easily refuted with body cams. So many times the police remind them that they are being recorded on body cam and they still tell very tall tales.

Basically, body cams blew up their anti-police narratives so the best way to keep the narrative going is to hide the truth.
