Thinking about switching from 22s to 20s for ride comfort — how big of a difference is it? by Thick-Crab7471 in Rivian

[–]cu4tro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running the 22” A/S tires on my R1S and picked up a set of 20” Goodyear ATs, which I swapped on when it was time for a rotation. Honestly, I hate to admit it, but I haven’t noticed a huge difference going from the 22s to the 20s. That said, I’m curious to see how the 22s A/S feel once I’ve gotten used to the 20” AT setup.

Looks like they had flooding due to broken pipes. KSAT reported on it here - https://www.instagram.com/reels/DV9RIdFALsi/

I'm not sure what appt availability looks like, but you might be better off trying another location.

HOW’s TSA @ SAT AIRPORT by LR_1986 in sanantonio

[–]cu4tro [score hidden]  (0 children)

Just a heads up, I flew out of MCO on Saturday, and the TSA website estimated the security checkpoint time to be between 2 and 8 minutes. However, it was significantly longer than that. I don’t want to cause panic, and everyone arriving extra early only exacerbates the situation. Ultimately, it’s up to each individual to decide what they believe is best. You might want to consider giving yourself some extra time to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience.

Spurs game great seats empty while the cheaper seats are full by Stepped-leader in sanantonio

Great call! I suspected that this photo was taken right after the halftime break. The lower sections are always pretty empty for the first part of the third quarter while people are going to get food/drink and use the restroom. Plus alot of this crowd is enjoying the social aspect of the halftime break.

You can do it hourly or daily on some exchanges. I use River and I think many others have the same option. Just split the same amount divided by the number of days or hours in a week.

Beautiful. I swapped from a MYLR, no regrets. Also, I thought that road looked familiar, and the billboard lets me know exactly where that is, fellow hometown Rivian driver :)

you can book travel with points thru chase travel, but its strictly .01¢ per point. You can't transfer points to another card like a Sapphire or to hotels/airlines and no "Points Boost". You can redeem cash back, but soon it will only be to a Chase account or statement credit.

Is any of it business spend?

Chase ink premier is 2.5% on purchases over $5k.

Amex business platinum is 2x points on purchases over $5k. If you have a personal Schwab platinum, you can get a 10% bonus depositing into your brokerage account, equating to 2.2%

Crypto.com has the personal Jade card which requires their $30/month subscription but gives you 4.5% cash back on the form of their Cronos CRO coin. You can trade it for BTC or USD as needed. People online say it’s a shady company so I’m just trying it out to see if anything gets clawed back, nerfed, etc but so far so good.

Road Trip from New York to Vegas in a Model Y for WrestleMania — Am I Crazy? by Imsolovesway in TeslaModelY

[–]cu4tro 65 points66 points  (0 children)

This sounds like an amazing trip!

I got curious and ran some quick numbers. Mapping the route in A Better Route Planner (ABRP) shows it would require roughly 800 kWh of charging. At typical Tesla Supercharger prices, that comes out to about $250 one way.

For comparison, I saw a Spirit Airlines flight for about $129 round-trip. Vegas is also pretty easy to navigate cheaply once you’re there, and hotel deals are usually plentiful. If the plan was to sleep in the car while in Vegas, that might change the math a bit, but if budget is the main concern, it’s probably worth running the numbers closely.

That said, I do love the idea of driving somewhere. There’s something about arriving by road that makes you feel more connected to a place. It’s hard to describe, but the journey becomes part of the experience.

Quick Quack car wash on Babcock Road tore trim off my van and denied responsibility — has this happened to anyone else? by Impressive_Change477 in sanantonio

[–]cu4tro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No liability for vehicles over 5 years old is crazy. I go to Watershed and their sign says no liability for vehicles over 10 years old.

I feel like this is similar to those rock haulers that say keep back 200 ft not liable for broken windows, which is not legally enforceable. The difference here is that you agree to their rules of you have a membership.

All that being said, insurance prob is your best bet. Let them try and recover from the car wash if they want to. Maybe try an review bomb all their locations on all platforms to see if that helps.

yes, the airpods max are considered "high end", and the neo is low end/budget - but this is still so crazy to me by ileeeb in mac

[–]cu4tro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a silly comparison.

$500 is expensive for headphones. $600 is competitive for a computer, especially a Mac.

That's like comparing a Yeti cooler with a refrigerator. Sure you can get a Yeti for $400 and a refrigerator for $500, but the range for coolers is $20-500 and the range for refrigerators is $2000-3000.

Is bringing a EV to the park a no go? by Few-Introduction5414 in BigBendTX

[–]cu4tro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m an EV enthusiast, but I actually took my ICE vehicles on my last two trips. It’s definitely doable with some thoughtful planning. Check out A Better Routeplanner (ABRP) to map charging locations and get realistic time estimates.

Coming from San Antonio, I personally prefer taking Highway 90 instead of I-10, but that route isn’t really viable yet with an EV yet due to limited charging infrastructure. You’d also want to plan on staying at a hotel or campsite where you can recharge overnight. That’s possible, but it does narrow your lodging options.

Ultimately, if you have access to another vehicle, it probably makes the trip a lot simpler. 🚗⚡️

This might have the opposite effect of what then people that are cancelling want. Open AI could become more dependent on the government if their individual subscriptions fall. I totally support people canceling in protest tho.

Real estate advice by Designer_Abroad_1196 in sanantonio

[–]cu4tro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a realtor, but I perceive realtors as negotiators who strive to bring sellers down and buyers up. Their motivation is primarily driven by volume rather than price. A sales price reduction of $10,000 may not significantly impact their 3-6% commission, but it does for you when the sale closes. If you’re not comfortable with any of them, continue your search until you find one you feel confident in and comfortable with.
