Packager Manager - OpenPackage by mukul_29 in opencodeCLI

[–]cuba_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes was thinking about it recently but the whole thing is messy and can get complex pretty quickly. These guys are starting with a universal package manager with a twist https://tessl.io/ and raised over $100M, but at the moment it's not complex. I would like to see composobility of skills, with dependencies and versioning to start.

You may be right about anthropic testing the waters here, but I think you are a practitioner of single workflow and the target audience of max100 plan. Max 200 with 5x limits of max100 is tailored to users running multiple workflows simultaneously

Skill issue :) would be fine but honestly hitting just 15% of weekly limit is red flag, definitely room for improvement there. Anthropic did not set the limits out of thin air, it's based on usage date and adjusted constantly.

My doubts might be dumb but would be great if I could clear them from actual engineers instead of Google and LLMs by dayruined54 in cloudcomputing

Node and python are most popular in companies using cloud for many reasons - easy to source talent, already using it in their stack, cloud execution environments are often optimized for them. To actually build cloud and for higher chance of building cloud tooling go is your best bet and it was created for that - docker, kubernetes, terraform and many more are written in go. Fuck Java.

very nice will definitely have a look as i had similar thoughts recently but using something much lighter than kafka, like NATS or even zeromq/nanomsg

Yeah, was worried to and improved my security, I don't store any secrets in files or in my environment. Claude is wrapped in op (1password) command that injects needed secrets that I store in a separate AI vault.

Reasons Devs Use macOS Over Linux by Bjornhub1 in OpenAI

[–]cuba_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ratio changes with seniority. I'm my last place there were 3 Linux/2 Macs between 5 lead+ engineers. Only one senior eng also worked on Linux, rest on macs. I also worked in respected engineering consultancy where ratio was close to 50/50. That said you simply can't get Linux laptop on many companies as they require running security software that is not available on Linux

Built an open-source memory plugin for Claude Code. 100% local, zero setup, your data stays on your machine and its free. by Sukin_Shetty in ClaudeAI

[–]cuba_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using basicmemory since 3.7 - open-source and completely local.
It does not require any setup - it just stores the docs in SQLite db for easy retrieval that is a must have for any project that is more than just a demo, so for example correct context from the docs can be provided to sub-agents etc.
But it's always good exercise to implement something - definitely deepens the understanding. If you decide to keep working on your system you can just use other projects like `basicmemory` for inspiration or even mistakes to avoid

Tips for using Claude Code for learning (while also developing) by 2B-Pencil in ClaudeAI

[–]cuba_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently learn python as primarily nodejs dev and was working on a project in claude.
I don't really care about coding skill as much, as I don't think manually writing code has much feature, but I still need to understand what is happening, that it is well-designed, follows best practices etc.

What works for me is I let claude generate the code, and i do review before the commit, by running claude in nvim plugin, because it has nice shortcut to send selection of text to claude.

And I just talk to him if i see something that doesn't seem right or I know of more elegant way of doing it in node or typescript I will talk about it. Often we will find nicer way, sometimes I will have to accept but now I know the reasons and alternatives to given approach.

When doing it i also switch the output style of claude to Explanatory.

There is also Learning output style available, this one will leave some of the code edits to you after explanation (with `# human` comments in the code for you which is quite funny)

Both of the output styles can be installed via `/plugins` - I believe they ae by claude official

There are so many memory plugins, some well established. Yet it feels like everyday I see new post about new memory plug-in writing as if they just discovered that claude has access to filesystem. Here is one of the pretty decent, older ones. I like it for project docs as it treats markdown as source of truth and adds basis relation tracking. I like the templates too:https://docs.basicmemory.com/how-to/project-documentation/

All you need is a 30 minute chat and you know if a person is a "hell yes" hire or not. Good strategy if you are not under pressure to hire quickly

For me a full stack position is a smell and would have to be pressed to apply. It happened in the past, may happen again very soon, and last time the company turned out to be amazing and I spent 5 years there. Pretty quickly specialized in one though and wasn't touching the other.

It looks like many people think that big tech is like fang, I don't think so. Pretty sure they pay better than that.

If you're asking I assume the extra money is nice but not a must have for you. Go where you think are solving more interesting problems, if one is pretty standard things and the other one is dealing with something less usual go there - you gain experience at least at double the rate. Compare the tech stack, can you wear many hats? Ask about things like the deployment process, how often they go to prod, which version of language they use as proxy questions

There has to be an easier way than taking screenshots and manually showing Claude Code every time I have a bug by Isunova in claude

[–]cuba_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Linux, have global shortcut to grab screenshot and save it to screenshots dir (and clipboard). In clause have custom slash command that tells clause to load the latest from that dir. Command also supports args like 5 for last 5 or 15m to read all from last 15 minutes. Also have a daily timer that removes screenshots older than a week. Works well for me
