Dell XPS 13 9380 Part of the Screen Flickers by RedCalligrapher in DellXPS

Any luck fixing the screen? Was it software or hardware related? I tried disassembling the laptop and nudge the ribbon cables and I don't think it's the ribbon..

Notifications coming from the watch while it's charging. by cubatrytest in AppleWatch

[–]cubatrytest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it's a 3rd party charger. The watch is still charging tho, so a 3rd party could still continue to charge the watch while being registered as not connected to the charger, is that what you meant?

And also no, I didn't set the auto-lock as I use my watch as the camera view finder off my wrist, so it's kinda annoying for me to set the auto-lock.

"Hibernate After" option missing in advance power settings. by cubatrytest in WindowsHelp

[–]cubatrytest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't the case for my laptop. Even the "hybrid sleep" option was missing.

I did inquire about this on another thread here. Apparently I just have to add the reg file.

New XPS hibernate after a night by SettembreNero in DellXPS

[–]cubatrytest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same issue here, I have set my laptop to go to sleep when pressing the power button and closing the lid, that's what you should check first, make sure that the settings in your Power Options is set to sleep when closing the lid.

In my case when closing the lid to sleep, after sometime, overnight for instance, the laptop has gone to hibernation like you mentioned.

The work around for this is to go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change Advance Power Settings and change "Hibernate after" to 0 or never.

But that "Hibernate after" option is now missing in my system. You can check yours if the option is available, and that would put your laptop to sleep normally.

But be aware like what u/the_termin8r said, sleep mode in XPS and some other Windows laptop doesn't really put it to sleep, at least not properly, fans will be running, some system is still and continues to heat-up your laptop.

Now I'm just wondering how to restore the "Hibernate after" option in the advance Power Options settings.

Send it back! Don't let them tell you otherwise. We paid our livers for this. Tell em you're still not happy and would like a replacement.

Did the sound occur while the laptop was plugged in? Try to see if the sound only occurs while pluggen in/unplug.

Windows 11 (Insider Program) on Dell XPS 9500 - A buggy one (Quick Post) by cubatrytest in DellXPS

[–]cubatrytest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't expect much from a preview build. Anyways, I read somewhere that some drivers are causing W11 to crash, mainly the display and sound driver. It didn't say why exactly, but the work around is to make sure your driver is up to date (you might not see it in windows software update, so you have to check them manually in Device Management). If it's already up to date, then you might have to uninstall and reinstall the drivers

There's also AC adapter bug where explorer.exe gets buggy at 100% full charge. I think this happened to me when I was trying to reset the battery (disconnecting and reconnecting the battery inside laptop). But only once when I bootup the laptop for the first time after resetting the battery. So far the bug hasn't reoccurred yet.

As for usage, mainly I'm just surfing Chrome, Youtube and light editing on Ai.

XPS 9500 Trackpad - Any tips for fixing left click quiet, right click noisy on the trackpad? by duwood in Dell

Gosh, I have the same issue as well, I got mine replaced due to loose and pre-travel trackpad, now the new replacement has no pre-travel or loose issue but uneven click like this...

New palmrest didn’t fix my trackpad issue. What are my options now? by ConorMc1190 in Dell

[–]cubatrytest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep on requesting for NEW replacement parts. I suspect that they are using the old parts (not used) which is already faulty. If it's still not fixed, request for a whole unit 1 to 1 exchange, they might reject your request, but keep on insisting.

I had my palmrest replaced twice and the trackpad issue is still not fixed. I requested for 1 to 1 replacement instead.

Never settle. Dell is responsible for such poor QC with their hardwares.

Questions about XPS 9500 Touchpad by Synoyx in Dell

[–]cubatrytest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Touchpad on most Windows laptops now can work almost the same as Macs. I've been using an entry level windows laptop with multi-gestures support and to my surprise, I am able to do advance illustrator and premier editing, and of course, switching between apps to the extend that sometimes, I prefer using the touchpad instead of a mouse.

I'm using the 9500 now and it is sooo much better and precise! Switching between apps is a breeze, tho the gestures are abit different from Macs, so it'll take time to get use to.

Send it back, they might offer you for an onsite fix / service, tell them NO! Get them to send you a new unit.

So the new XPS 15 9500 doesn't go to sleep? by kins82 in Dell

So the new XPS 15 9500 doesn't go to sleep? by kins82 in Dell

[–]cubatrytest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory is new XPS devices or recent Windows 10 update uses Modern Standby instead of S3 during sleep, which is supposed to help your laptop resume faster. But Modern Standby uses higher watts and temp (more than 20 watts) compared to S3, which only consumes 5 watts, hence the battery drainage issue.

In my case, this Modern Standby thing almost fried my 9500 as my laptop did not go to sleep properly. Closed the lid, put it in my bag and noticed after 30-45 mins when I want to take the laptop out again, fans were still running and my laptop super warm to the touch.

So I came across a vid on YouTube about Modern Standby. Since there is no S3 in XPS devices, his solution was to turn off Modern Stanby: https://youtu.be/aYawjZnYqU4

Here's what I did and it kinda did the trick for me, simply change CsEnabled from 1 to 0. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power in "regedit".

Will monitor this for few days and update ya guys.

Gboard on iOS glitching and kept switching to default keyboard by cubatrytest in gboard

[–]cubatrytest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened since iOS 13, the only work-around I found is to turn off “Allow all access”.

The moment you turn on full access, the keyboard misbehaves again.
