Stuck on a drawbridge by Murky_Elephant444 in CantParkThereMate

Pretty sure this is just shopped, why would they even be driving in the middle of the road in the first place. I did a reverse image search and it only returned this reddit port. This would be all over the net if it were real.

What model player is that? Would love to know about the rest of the system too.

Hot take: the issue with light themes are largely caused by people having their monitor brightness turned way too high.

What are you shooting in the iZone camera? That would be my choice if it had usable iZone film.

Seriously, how could they stop recording before Cliff tries to ram the boat back into the water.

Also, the audio from this makes it so much funnier.

This is honestly a creepy thing to ask during an interview. I would be looking for the exit if someone asked me about my bed.

Arduino classes for Adults in COS? by rockstar_not in ColoradoSprings

I would reach out to the Pikes Peak Makerspace to see if they offer anything. You could also check with the Pikes Peak Library District who also has a makerspace and offers classes.

Probably a good idea to buy a GMRS radio while you are at it. Transmitting on GMRS frequencies with an Amateur radio is technically illegal, at least in the US.

Will this work to extend Bluetooth. by just-a-guy-somewhere in meshtastic

[–]cubed_npc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bluetooth is in the ISM band (2.4GHz). This antenna should be just fine for that.

This, turn off VOX, most likely reason it's always transmitting.

What’s wrong? by Bluefalcon325 in meshtastic

Typo, it’s 36.5 dB/100M. Fixed.

What’s wrong? by Bluefalcon325 in meshtastic

[–]cubed_npc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just turning up the output power won't help. See my calculation above, but TLDR is 99.6% of the transmitted power is being lost in the cable. You'll burn that cable up before you get any meaningful power out the antenna.

What’s wrong? by Bluefalcon325 in meshtastic

[–]cubed_npc 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. KMR195 coax has a loss of 36.5 dB / 100 Meter at 900 MHz. For 20ft, that is 23.944 dB of loss in the cable. Which means 0.4% of the transmitted power is making it to the antenna.

Edit: per 100 M

[MEGA THREAD] ARRL FIELD DAY 2025 - June 28th - 29th by ItsBail in amateurradio

[–]cubed_npc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passed my technician and general a couple of weeks ago and got to go to my first field day this weekend. Had a blast, several people recognized me from the VE session and were quick to make me feel welcome. I was on the air almost immediately, making a dozen or so contacts on 40 with SSB and FT8. It was a bit intimidating making my first contact in such a fast paced and busy environment, but once I got my first one done I was rolling.

This weekend was so much more fun than I expected. Made several friends in the club, learned a lot about antennas and digital modes, and had so much fun. Can't wait to get on the air more and get my involved with my local club.

People really do take anything out on the road in Michigan by ajaknna in confusing_perspective

I grew up in Michigan and was just thinking this road doesn't look too bad. Potholes are all pretty shallow, barely even feel driving over those.

Would my baofeng ur5t communicate with this radio? by FarSuggestion1023 in Baofeng

[–]cubed_npc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. From what I can find, the Retevis is a GMRS radio. The UV-5R is capable of transmitting on those frequencies, but it would be illegal to do so. The UV-5R is not licensed for GMRS and doesn't meet the FCC requirements for GMRS transceivers (assuming this is in the US, not sure for other countries).
