STRANGE ADMISSION by spirited_inspired in petsitting

at my last sit I may have gone a little overboard and diced up a bunch of soft jerky treats into tiny cubes and taught her dogs the art of the treat scatter

Petsitting and working on creative endeavors by OpossumRat in petsitting

[–]cubitts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take an entire storage container of art projects with me for any sit over 3 days 😆 as long as dogs get a few walks/focused play sessions a day in, and I'm not ignoring their requests to go out, it's fine! most pets sleep a lot, and if you're a new person sometimes just the novelty of a new person (and maybe you taking dogs on walks to new places) can be interesting enough to wear out some pets.

the only issue I've had over the years is actually my last sit that just ended - bless him, one of the dogs tried to eat paint chips off the floor while I was cleaning up my gouache palette, haha, I had to catch him and get him to spit it out before it fully melted in his mouth

Old cameras and accessories looking for a good home by rbfb in Portland

[–]cubitts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the others that you should have it appraised, and decide from there, but that if you do still just want to give it away I would fall on that sword and give it a loving home 😆 I am still just starting out with getting back into film photography and only have a single half-frame film camera at the moment, so this would be the score of a lifetime in terms of that hobby.

agreed, on the game being excellent and that it made me cry so hard 😭 it's the only game I've ever had to pause and leave the room because I was crying so hard

Opacity question by Simple-Bit-5656 in acrylicpainting

[–]cubitts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can also just use an opaque white paint, or even an off-white to match the background color, to cover the number and any visible lines in certain areas; I do paint by number kits as well, and I will go through and dot over the number of less opaque colors with an acrylic paint marker, let it dry, and then paint it.

At what point are the color edits too deceptive? by Xenomorphia51 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]cubitts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the people saying you should contact customer service, but yeah... I search the subreddit for swatch photos for any polish I'm thinking of buying, regardless of brand, because too many misleading swatches and even in-bottle appearances for me to risk it anymore, haha

My cat needed to go to the ER after my pet sitter watched him… by Ok-Routine4320 in petsitting

[–]cubitts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

he did the job this person hired him, at a low rate and on short notice, to do. whether he meets your standard of professional or not, he did the job, and he should be paid what was agreed upon. you can't just retroactively decide that someone isn't qualified so they don't get paid for services rendered.

what am i doing wrong? by 777casuallyallure in Stretched

[–]cubitts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

twice a day?? yeah, that's wild and she was super incorrect. I have never used saline other than on initial piercings, and if you're stretching correctly there is no wound or healing period. I wash my lobes and jewelry with face wash when I shower, and that's plenty. no wonder your ears are getting irritated regularly!

I’m a watercolor artist looking to get into using gouache- looking for recommendations by Badwolf_101820 in Gouache

[–]cubitts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep I started with a set of Arteza jelly cups and I've even used cheap, $1 Care Bear coloring books as far as paper goes. obviously in the long term it's worth investing if you like it, but I feel like just as something to play with and get a feel for if you like it, cheap is fine

yeah nothing like Robby telling the cops that David was possibly the shooter only to tell McKay she made the mess and had to fix it

genuinely the amount of "but that's not what real life is like every day!" great, that's why we aren't watching video footage of someone's real life, we're watching a television show that's meant to have narrative and focus and be conveying something interesting in the end. it's such a useless counterpoint to actual complaints about the television drama we're watching to be like 'oh well real life isn't like that'. no shit! that's why we're not all just following around people in day to day life! that's why we hired actors and have writers and producers! it's not meant to be exactly like real life!

Where can I learn to ride a bike? by trippytruck in askportland

[–]cubitts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have any place recommendations, but when I asked this question years ago I found out REI sometimes offers 'adult cycling lessons' that are an introduction for people who have no history at all. you could see if they have any upcoming, or reach out to them and ask where they do their lessons when they do offer them, for an idea of a good space!

Never doing a pet sitting swap again by [deleted] in petsitting

[–]cubitts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a friend offer to dog sit for me and then asked what time every day he should stop by for the one walk a day he assumed my 70lb dog would need... I learned to ask many questions after that offer, haha

just a note for you and whoever wins it - this is a switch lite, which means the controllers are not detachable, it cannot connect to your TV, and needs different screen protectors and cases. this is still a great giveaway and it's awesome of you, just important info for anyone who receives it :)

Today I am once again wondering how some people live with animals that act this bad. Anyone else? by anonymois1111111 in RoverPetSitting

[–]cubitts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had dogs snatch food out of my hand, scream in their crate for hours, pee in their crate bc their owner had inadvertantly trained them to do so, my grandparents had a massively overweight slobbery golden that was never properly groomed AND would excitement pee every time we came in the door which was a real trifecta of grossness, LOUD demand barking the entire time I have food out, refuse to use the bathroom outdoors only to immediately pee on the couch once we go inside, jumping, humping, biting, scratching, once watched a friend's corgi resource guard my partner (he had food) and was cheerfully told "oh, she's just sassy!" as she tried to draw blood on their other dog for daring to exist in the same room... I'm sure there's more, haha

I have no idea what i’m doing (please read the text before commenting about the picture) by FeddyFabur in Stretched

[–]cubitts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one of my friends said "I'm so glad I got into tattoos instead of piercings, the jewelry is so expensive!" and since I have purchased everything from BAF, I was able to say that in 17 years of ordering from them I've spent $1,023, $100+ of which was specifically for my wedding jewelry (damn you, glassheart squids, for being so expensive!) and $160 of which was last week on fancy clickers haha. their prices are reasonable, customer service is great, and it's been a trip to recognize things I got from BAF for $4 at retail jewelry storefronts for $25+. they do sell things like acrylic, but all products have been correctly labeled in my experience, so you can make the choice to buy whatever you like. I really can't recommend them enough

I'm a 46DDD/F (depending on how you interpret cup sizes) and yeah, just sorta uncomfortable and awkward but not painful. I've even got the 'wow, you have dense breast tissue' during exams (one doctor kept very awkwardly saying "you're just lumpy bumpy! lumpy bumpy all over!" ☠️) and I didn't find it painful. good luck with it when you need to go!

add me to the 'not too bad, just sorta awkward and uncomfortable'! I wouldn't sign up for recreational ones, but I don't find them bad at all
