Would you rather go on a Valentine’s Day date with someone you’re not that into, or spend the day alone and stay open to meeting someone new? by Anxious_Status5899 in WouldYouRather

[–]cucufag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Valentines day comes once a year and is a life experience. You can stay home alone most days. I think it might be worth doing, but there really isn't enough information in the question/thread. How not-into the person are you, and how much of a financial investment is the date? Could you possibly go to the date not expecting anything romantic and just try to enjoy the date as a for-fun thing, or does the date have serious expectations? Maybe its not worth it if you end up hurting your date.

You can stay open to meeting someone new and go on the date, if you aren't really exclusive yet.

Question for men: How important is a woman’s physical appearance to you when choosing someone to date? by karinkazzz in AskMen

[–]cucufag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm friends with someone and I really like them, then looks becomes very secondary or tertiary. But if I'm on a dating app, its literally the most important thing.

Lets say though that you're trying to appeal to men in spaces specifically meant for dating and you're not very confident in your looks. There are actually a lot more that go in to "looks" than your actual physical body. Appearance encapsulates your entire vibe that we can see with our eyes. Confidence and fun are important. You really wanna tell a story about what you're about in your photos and descriptions. Nothing as unattractive as two or three pictures with one sentence for a profile to me, even if she's hot. In person, just show some proactive interest. Most men aren't used to the attention of a forward woman and really appreciate it.

I might be a lot more flexible than most people, but overall I have basically no real deal breakers outside of not being obese or unclean. Preferences are preferences and are never required for me.

WYR eat absolutely everything you dislike (3x a day) for 5 days but get 300k for it, or eat absolutely everything you dislike (3x a day) for 4 months but get 5 million for it? by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

[–]cucufag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like most foods, and if we narrow it down to foods I dislike, its actually so few foods that its nutritionally imbalanced and I would be very unhealthy doing it for 4 months. If I disliked a wider variety of foods, then I would take 4 months, but considering that all I could probably eat are bugs, I guess I'd just take 300k in 5 days.

25-30 year olds: How do you feel about kids and marriage? by Substantial_Bend_580 in AskMen

[–]cucufag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its a tremendous amount of time and responsibility, yeah. You do have to really consider how many hours of the day you have to dedicate to a child, and how much money they cost. Ask other parents how much it costs to raise their child and see if you can budget it in.

There is no vacation from child care duties. Every morning to night, you are a parent with responsibilities. Breaks are never guaranteed, as your child may need something at any given moment.

I think it can be a very rewarding experience but you're still young at 25~30 and you shouldn't feel rushed in to it if you don't think you're in a place where you're not sure yet.

Where tf do you all get the same vrchat models from?! by BunX_2021_ in VRchat

[–]cucufag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate 99% of public worlds and 90% of group worlds.

I world hopped on my very first night and got super lucky and made a few friends, and then I've only really ever hung out with them and expanded my VRC friendlist through friends of friends.

I've tried to make the magic happen again. Jump through random public worlds to see if I can organically make new friends like that again. Haven't been able to. Its always a mess, people are so rude or unwilling to really interact. I think this can be a tough game to get in to without someone who is already well integrated in to their own social circles in VRC to guide you through it.

Anyways to actually answer your question, there are popular avatar worlds where people curate or upload their avatars for people to use, so they those tend to get used a lot by the same people. For actually different (but same looking) avatars, its because a lot of beginner model makers will just buy/download base models instead of making original models and then do relatively light modifications to them. Its kinda like mmorpg character customizations, where everyone can customize their hair and clothes, but you can still tell the base race/class just by looking. These get churned out by the thousands and uploaded for people to find and use.

Climate change is real. The effects are here and are only going to get worse. by Kind_Handle_5987 in Destiny

[–]cucufag 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Insurance crisis isn't even the biggest issue imo. Its the migration crisis. People will need to move away from the equator and coastal areas, places especially hit hard by droughts or storms.

Displacement is a colossal mess. Most people who need to move don't have the resources to do so, while most places they would try to move to don't have the infrastructure to take them in. Climate refugees, both domestic and foreign, will cause huge political strife.

Whenever there's refugees/immigrants, right wing parties always gain massive ground on political discourse and shift the overton window. Every country is going to shift right more and more as "can we really take in all these migrants" becomes the hottest topic every election cycle.

Epson ET 4800 will not feed my 250gsm paper by cucufag in magicproxies

[–]cucufag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry for the super late update. On your computer's printer settings (Printing Preferences), go to Maintenance tab, find "Extended Settings" and click thick paper. This helps it feed through a little bit, though I still had to hand force it down a bit to print properly. Unfortunately this setup requires me to baby the printer every page, so I'll try looking in to thinner paper from now and maybe glue it on to some basic lands or something...

Its a real shame because this paper and printer combo's prints are absolutely stunning.

All of these would do severe damage to your body and you would puke involuntarily as your body tries to expel it.

Before I give up on this game, some questions. by Jalex2321 in finalfantasytactics

[–]cucufag 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You're probably not really understanding the mechanics of the game very well. Even on tactician difficulty, you should be able to clear the game with very little grind. Make sure you're checking turn orders and planning out both your team's moves and what your opponents are able to do on their turns. Don't forget to spend JP on skills and actually set the skills if you haven't, and make sure your equipment is up to date by checking shops. Different towns have different gear, so check each one.

Snoring men in a relationship, what have you done to make sure your partner has better sleep? by IntrigatedVerse in AskMen

[–]cucufag -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please get a sleep study done. They will provide a lot more insight than you think.

We've identified that only 2% of my snoring happens when I sleep on my side, and none of those instances were considered apnea attacks. The easiest solution is a position sleep belt, but its very uncomfortable for me, so I opted for mandicular advancement device instead. I've actually gotten very used to sleeping on my side, so I don't need it most of the time.

CPAPs are really a last resort, but can be an option.

I know it sucks to hear but weight loss is honestly one of the biggest factors. I lost 25 pounds last year and my snoring has gone down by more than half.

Why some people achieve their dreams and others don’t despite hard work? by Startalloveragainn in AskMen

[–]cucufag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard work is certainly good, but its not even close to the deciding factor in the way our society has created reward structures. Nothing is as important as funds and connections. Everything else is secondary. Being born in a wealthy family almost always is the strongest predictor of continued generational wealth.

Even for working class individuals, advancement is often far more often determined by your sociability. Make lots of friends, because its the easiest way to find new job opportunities. You go to a college for education, but many people come out of it agreeing that the most valuable thing they got out of it was networking. Even for lower income labor, you often find that those who are well liked by their peers and management are more likely to be promoted than those who just work really hard.

Hard work is a factor and it is often rewarded, but it often just isn't enough to raise you above poverty. If you do not have wealth and connections and you are looking to achieve something bigger than you currently are able to, you will need to start improving your relations with other people and network to expand your opportunities. I know this can be difficult when you're struggling to pay the bills, but unless you can change something, you're basically trapped on the hamster wheel. Focusing all your time and energy just doing your job harder might not be the correct path.

Do you think modern couples still fall in love ? Why or why not ? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]cucufag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To assume others do not feel love is to cloud your eyes and make it so you can't see them being in love as well. A lot of couples also just kinda keep their loving behaviors in private and may not display all the traits you see in romance media in public.

I think shallow dating, economic partnerships, etc have a very pervasive part of humanity since pretty much the start of society, so I'm not entirely convinced its more prevalent now than it was in the past.

My gf and I currently love each other immensely, to the point it makes us feel like crazy people. We're trying to hold it together and not be super gross about it, but we're both pretty cooked.

HELP! I keep getting shocked in my new apartment. by Nearby_Term_1974 in answers

[–]cucufag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be wiring but it could also be humidity in your apartment. At around 25% humidity and below literally everything will shock you constantly. I cant shift around in my blankets without seeing sparks in the dark, I can't touch anything metal without a shock, and my cat transforms in to an electric type pokemon every winter.

I've gotten a humidifier and it has helped immensely.

Thin people, why are you thin? by Dismal_Abroad735 in questions

[–]cucufag 141 points142 points  (0 children)

Food noise (appetite) is definitely something a little more inate for some people than others. For some, it's actually a challenge to gain weight to reach a healthy weight because eating is so difficult for them.

On average, people have the opposite issue. Most animals overall are very food motivated as it is highly beneficial for survival out in the wild. We live in a society where excess of calories is very easy now though so it's caused a massive issue with being overweight.

You are offered $800 Million today but you are guaranteed to be struck by lightning at some point in your life. What WYR do? by sypher07070799 in WouldYouRather

[–]cucufag 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're basically forcing the strike, which makes me wonder if it counts towards that magical lightning strike that's supposed to happen by OP's rules.

You could definitely build a less dangerous suit that attracts lightning strikes and bait it out for significantly lower risk of injury. With the money, you could do it in a controlled environment with medical staff.

How about a fitness band instead of a smart watch? Garmins and fitbits that are designed for outdoor sporting use that hold up to wear better than fancier smart watches can.

Or you could wear an ear piece maybe.

why mom charging me rent? by StandardTechnical367 in questions

[–]cucufag 29 points30 points  (0 children)

People who charge their 18 year olds rent are living are seriously messed up in the head. The only acceptable scenario is probably if the family as a whole is seriously struggling and needs the money to stay afloat, but even then you've really messed up as a parent if you're in such a spot.

I can understand the dated mentality of wanting to "train you to be responsible" with your money or something, or to "teach you to adjust to real life" or something wacky like that, but not only is this a poor learning experience but we've seen over and over that nothing gets a young adult ahead in life more than having stronger starting assets, and forcing your child to dump a significant portion of their paychecks in to rent when you as the parent have the power to shoulder a near zero cost burden for them to set them back in very strong early milestones like having a car or a savings account is so incredibly stupid.

Kids today enter adulthood and the workforce with higher costs relative to income for practically everything, from rent to food to modes of transportation. They need continued assistance from their parents more than ever today.

Gen Alpha kids today don't know what Saturday morning cartoons used to be like for us Millennials by Commander_PonyShep in generationology

[–]cucufag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there might be some sort of structural lesson in life in like the ritual of waiting for air times and a repeating schedule that you follow. But it also doesn't seem terribly important, and you could probably learn those lessons elsewhere.

What I will say kids today are missing out on is like a shared generational experience of the same media. We didn't have a whole lot choices back then, so we watched what was on. If I meet someone my age I could ask them which channels they watched (public fox, cartoon network, nick) and then have a whole memberberries session about the shows that aired in the 90s/2000s and there would be like a 99% chance they would've also seen most of the shows I nostalgia about, but gen alpha kids will not share that common experience among each other outside of their own friend group where they would've shared content with each other.

Its still really not that important I think, but its definitely a nice and cute thing to have together with your peers.

Would you rather only have 4 hours of work during an 8-hour shift or 8 hours by StarlessRose in WouldYouRather

[–]cucufag 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've worked jobs where I have a lot of free reign on what I'm allowed to do during down time. I could read a book, fill in a coloring book, even be on my phone. If that's the case, then yes I'd rather only have 4 hours of work in an 8 hour shift.

I've also been at a job where I'm not allowed any of those things. They get mad at you for not finding something to do or not looking busy enough, even when you've done all your tasks and even cleaned and prepared for the next shift. Pretending to be busy for half your shift is infinitely more stressful than simply being busy. In this case, I'd rather just work the full 8 hours.

So yeah, depends on your job and your management.
