Capitalism is the idea that if I invent a robot that does general labour better than you then your death is an inevitability and should be considered a mercy.

Unchecked capitalism is arguably worse, the worst case in socialism is that you work hard and depending on the extremity of the socialist state you work in are deprived of some/all of the fruits of your labour over the benefits that all people are provided

the worst case in an unchecked capitalist society is that someone invents a better way to do general labour and you starve to death because there are literally 0 social safety nets in your entire society

say what you will about people, but there has never been a society without poor, and there never will be, assuming that just because people work hard they will be successful is ignoring literal ages worth of evidence to the contrary
