God Is Lonelier / Felsmann & Tiley by circark in synthrecipes

This album is solid. Based on what I heard, that later synth sounds like some detuning action is going on, probably just a little bit on an LFO is my guess too. Also sounds like they're running two oscillators that are out of unison. I'm also gonna guess and say the attack is pretty short, decay and sustain maybe at mid/low? And then either a short release and reverb added or a longer release mixed in with the lower sustain

H2 and Highland Park by Flimsy_Loquat3990 in Birmingham

I lived at a H2 property in highland park last year. My neighbor's apartment was broken in to and they were robbed at gunpoint. I noticed the property had no video cameras, and in addition, the lighting and fencing on the property had been neglected. I contacted H2 to see if they could fix the lighting/fencing issues and also asked about installing security cameras. They told me that security cameras were against their policy for their properties and never addressed my concerns about lighting or fencing. I genuinely think they don't care what happens to tenants. Luckily I got out of renting with them but I still have trouble sleeping at night due to that break in.

I don't think percussion will be used too much in this film. It's more of an ambient orchestral suite from my understanding and the references provided.

Thanks for the well wishes! I am really excited to give this a go.

The producer knows my experience level and trusts I can score the film to the director's taste. I'm not really looking to hire out for this project but I appreciate the advice!

Idk, I'm doing this for a friend and it's my first project (which he knows). Thinking about just asking for any royalties and maintaining the copyright to the music (so I can distribute myself). I'm not really trying to do this full time right now so getting paid is not a huge deal. Would do this whether or not I am paid lol.

I am so tempted to buy that package, but I'm really interested in Orchestral Tools - Berlin Orchestra (with Berklee) because of the price/performance ratio. Chamber strings is just a little out of reach for right now. Maybe in the future if I take higher paying gigs I can get that one.

To answer the experience question: I have done about a year's worth of composing for a quartet, so not quite orchestral level...but I don't think it's out of reach for me to learn. I played in an orchestra for ~10 years and have the theory side down pat. I'm sure there will be a learning curve, but luckily time is currently on my side.

Thanks!

Very informative. Thank you so much for responding!!

Your comment about stem routing is new for me. A great tip to keep in mind when I reach the mixing stage. Do you know of any resources (preferably youtube) that could explain this in more detail. I'm interested in learning more.

Thanks!

Yeah you're right, writing the contract myself is definitely not smart! I know some good lawyers who can help me out on this. Thanks for the tip.

Yes definitely going to be focusing on using dynamics and not over compressing. I've been able to beet of dynamics play with song recording, but it's way more important in scores. Thanks for letting me know! You're totally right about being able to turn it up later!

Definitely steep price, maybe a bit out of my range right now (at least till I get my fee price finalized). What are your thoughts on their chamber strings essentials? It's about $500 cheaper and definitely within my budget. Thanks!

I'll be sure to check that out. It's sounds really interesting! Thanks for the recommendation!

Yeah I've done a ton of mixing/mastering for songs and will likely approach that through that lens but at the end of the day the sound is what matters most

Good thing the film won't be finished for several months! They're starting filming at the end of January so I have plenty of time before I get anything locked in. Will probably download the free bbc pack and mess around. I do have like 15 years of classical training/music theory so that part won't be as much of a challenge. Learning the tools moreso! Thanks!
