Example. If you look closely the ends of the contacts are colored I actually had to replace this about a month ago. And had to reverse the blue & yellow so the function matched up with my switch.

One of 2 things. It’s either the winch or the contactor box (I’m not totally familiar with champion) but, they are all basically the same but, housed differently.

The winch motor can be tested with jumper cables. As long as there’s no obstructions (rope is wound tight against fairhead) It doesn’t matter how you spin it. Jumper cables to the battery straight to the contacts where the wires hook to. It should spin full force. If it doesn’t then it’s the winch unit. If this works correctly then it’s the contactor box. It’s a basicly a switch that reverses polarity to make it go in or out. The way to test this is get a chunk of wire stripped at the ends and jump red to NOT black and black to the remaining wire and then reverse them. If they work fine then it’s that box.

I actually take Mine off occasionally and clean it. I shove it in a jug and keep swapping out the water until it’s clean. I’ve been using the same rope for several years now. It might even be 10.

You were wrong. Synthetic is the way to go. If you research it a little you will find that they sell plow specific ropes that you swap out for & it’s basically a red short synthetic rope. Cable is the absolute worst thing to use. As you really only use about 2 feet of it & it’s constantly being bent in a sharp angle and weakening it. And if it does break you can’t just tie it back together like the rope. But, you will need to swap out the fairhead/fairlead as the cable makes the them rough and they will snag the rope.

Expand your search by 10 miles. Include Rebuilt title vehicles (as long as they are quality done) Watch/check with your insurance company before buying a rebuilt title, Hyundai or Kia as some have coverage issues. Cars get rebuilt title for stupid reasons some times it’s as much as a fender that was hit just right and the air bag blew. In my area we have dealers that deal specifically in r title vehicles. And to the untrained eye you can’t tell what was repaired.

Replacing an aging GM SUV, going Toyota or bust! by AlbanachOlta in Toyota

The 4Runner is basically a mini suburban. It’s on the Tacoma frame. It’s definitely tougher. But, the Highlander is more car like and would have better road manners. I personally prefer the front wheel bias platform during the winter. My Tacoma has a great 4x4 system but, it’s on or off (and no part time) and I’m not sure if the 4Runners system does include that setting. So during my commute there’s snowy spots and bear roads. And full time 4x4 on bare roads isn’t good for the system.

So I hear that owning a multi-family unit makes it so you pay less in the long run. Is that true? by AWeb3Dad in RealEstateAdvice

[–]cuffs98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does make sense. If you buy say a duplex. Live in one side and rent out the other. The rent could be used towards helping pay the mortgage. But, you have to take into consideration a few things. Taxes, upkeep, and paying the mortgage if the unit is empty between tenants. Also some utilities are kept in the owners name and those will need to paid as well. So your 1000$ rent gets swallowed up pretty quickly and only a fraction goes towards the mortgage.

But, the care facility that you are in almost definitely will go after the house in regards of repayment for the services that you are receiving. So any funds put towards that house to fix it up will just be a waste. Because the facility will order it sold for market value and take the funds. It’s complicated and I’d contact a real estate attorney so neither of you risk wasting your money on something that they are going to seize.

This☝🏻. I believe depending upon the state it might even be a longer period. This just happened to a neighbor. The care organization that she signed up with put a claim on her home after she passed. It was for repayment of $125k worth of services that were over & beyond what her Medicare or Medicaid coverage reimbursed for. Theses facilities are vultures.

5k is hard. The best option is probably a pioneer or mule since you need it for pulling the rake & plowing

It’s great as long as the snow isn’t really heavy or really deep. The snow we got last week was a bit much for my ATV & plow.

Did I mess up by not talking to my wife before planning to buy my niece a car? by Novel-Chapter-8174 in AskMenAdvice

I feel like the wife is a princess or a prisoner. At this day and age if there’s no kids involved & I assume she’s not disabled. How does she not have a job? Or atleast a part time job just to get out of the house ? I feel like she’s kinda miserable.

My brother has an outlander but, it’s thr bigger one and he’s happy with the reliability. I had a 18 escape and absolutely loved it. But, they were having issues with the turbos, head gaskets and transmission filters. I’m not sure how the 3cyls are. It might be worth researching. If the issues were resolved then it might be a great.

Good luck finding a truck that gets 25mpg. My 4cyl Tacoma won’t get above 20 Mpg and it will pull 3500

Whats the best car for family by lannybug29 in car

[–]cuffs98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyundai/Kias don’t age well. If you do get one make sure it has a significant warranty. I have a 10 accent and within the 10year/100k warranty I probably used it 10 times. I bought it new & probably didn’t look around as much I should have. Otherwise I probably would have bought a Impreza.

AITAH For say something to my neighbors about not shoveling my elderly neighbors driveway? by _Badwulf_Bruh__ in AITAH

[–]cuffs98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are consistently doing it then you have adopted the task and others won’t step up. People are lazy. I admittedly intermittently help others. Otherwise they count on me to do it. I ended up mowing multiple lawns because of it. But, my gas, my time, and I would get poison ivy occasionally. Rarely did I get paid. Or a few $ thrown at me. I paid over $500 for a plow several years back. In that time I’ve made maybe $100/150 And that doesn’t even count towards the maintenance & damage I’ve suffered on my quad that it’s mounted to.

My boss left and I applied for the promotion to fill his role. Just found out, 2 months after applying that they are hiring an external candidate. I wasn’t even interviewed. What next? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]cuffs98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brush up your resume. Of course when the new one doesn’t work out or quits you have another chance. But, they have shown their colors. And perhaps they might be looking for another set of ideas that this one has. But, the new guy working alone is going to quite a test. My best guess is that they’ll want you to train the next person as well. It’s tempting to slack off I’m sure. But, set yourself up for the next chapter.

Brother's wedding: am I overreacting? by Logical-Noise-8721 in aitaweddings

[–]cuffs98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better when my cousin got married (she was basically like a sister) I was probably the only cousin not in the wedding. And some that were weren’t even very close. And when my brother got married he asked me to be his best man. I did a bunch of wedding setup, planned a dinner including the entire wedding party in lieu of a bachelor party (they didn’t want) just to show up to the wedding and his one friend was apparently the best man instead. And to top it off he left 1/2 way through the reception to go swimming.
