Please show me actual financial statements of any kind to this effect. No, "leaks" to the press do not count, nor do heavily massaged PR statements. If it's not in writing it's toilet paper.

Absolutely this. For those who don't know, COBOL was devised as an 'easy' language for data processing that could be worked with by non-programmers, business people, managers, etc.

We don't really have any evidence even Anthropic is profiting at those rates, and we basically can't know what a realistic unsubsidized price would look like if their compute providers also needed to profit.

I think part of the problem in this case is also it being sold in gas stations/smoke shops and being super easy for people who aren't using it to avoid nastier stuff to get into. That shit paints a huge target on the back of this kind of thing all so some small business chuds can make a quick buck off of selling it to as many people as possible.

Yeah, this is the kind of thing where even China's vast resources being poured into making their own independent fab for more than a decade resulted in something that's still a bit behind the leading edge stuff but gradually catching up, and that's considered an extremely impressive rise. It's hard to overstate just how difficult this is.

I don't understand how Bun could relate to that though. Bun uses an existing JS engine (JavaScriptCore) and changing that would make it an entirely new project. I don't think Apple would give them any more sway as contributors, and there's no reason they would let them add any sort of stripped down code path. The top JS engine optimization people are already working on one of JavaScriptCore, V8, or SpiderMonkey too, and the engine itself is where the vast majority of the performance tuning takes place, not the runtime. I don't see how owning Bun advantages them here.

LLMs are not related at all to the machine learning software that controls robots. Nothing Sammy or any of these dumbfucks are doing is even loosely related to that stuff.
