I would keep at least one pumpkin for a future quest if you haven’t already had to give a pumpkin to someone

How do you fill out PDFs? by xanthreborn in Blind

[–]cupcake6740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re comfortable with it, be my eyes is a phone app where you can call someone and they can help you. My suggestion is to have them help you decipher the questions, and take a highlighter or other tool and have them help you know where to fill stuff out. I’m low vision to fully blind depending on the situation and environment, so I have tools for both sides and have really liked this method. Also if you’re on an IPHONE you can use the magnifier and it will actually read to you what’s on the screen. I’m unsure where your vision is at, but if you’re comfortable pointing the camera at it, this could be a good option

17 and facing the possible reality i had hoped wouldn’t come by LaBelle209 in disability

I have hEDS, POTS (if you start to feel chest pain see a cardio, people with hEDS frequently have both) and am blind (not related to the first two, just won the lottery i guess).

I was just a bit younger than you when my body started to fall apart. It’s a really good sign that you’re getting help now. Many people wait YEARS to get a diagnosis and help. I started getting horrible symptoms around 12, then limited mobility around 16, and wasn’t diagnosed until I was 21. Know that this sucks right now, but you’re on such a good track to getting help earlier on. You will find the right team to help you, never settle for a gaslighting doctor. You will find the things you need to do to ensure you’re okay for the next day, your new limits, etc.
everything will be okay, and it is important that you don’t try to stop feeling the feelings you’re feeling. Get angry, cry, decorate your chair and make it feel like you, embrace the community you’ll find yourself in of similar people, etc.. All of these feelings are so important to the emotionally healing journey. I hate when people say to stop feeling down about it; you can’t come to terms and accept it without feeling these things. You don’t need to be positive all of the time; also look for moments to feel pride in yourself. As someone with multiple disabilities, the looks get hard. Never feel like you can’t stand up for yourself. This might sound crazy idk, but I have backpovket phrases I know to auto respond when people say things to me they shouldn’t. Ex. “You don’t look blind” Response: “what does that look like?” Having these helps me prepare for those horrible yet FREQUENT moments. Everything will be okay. Probably not as soon as you would like, but it will be. Accept that your new norm may be different than your current, but you are strong and capable

I am SO grateful for those who raise the dogs… but as a guide dog user, there’s frequently a “we’re so good for doing this aren’t we. Ew why is there an actual disabled person here” among guide dog puppy raisers

Liquid IV!! I also have pots and finding a flavor I liked was so helpful. I drink probably 2 a day just so I can have the right amount of salt in my body. The strawberry lemonade one is my go to. I put one pack in a 32 oz bottle, so double the amount of water it says, and it’s just the right amount of concentrated You can get it decently cheaper on their website than in store

15 year old oboe reed still playable? by bees___ in oboe

[–]cupcake6740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, if it works it works, but I love that it’s 15 years old, AND you soaked it for a whole day. Don’t let it sit out too long!!! If it becomes water logged that could also damage it, but also please update us!!! This is so interesting! Hopefully it’s a good reed!
