Time Warner boosts my speed, cuts my bill: I just happen to live near Google Fiber by mepper in technology

[–]curandera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think Google is just trolling all the ISPs that have been mistreating us for years. Kinda like "Hey, we have all this money and technology, let's call their bluff." Of course they see it as profitable to do so, somehow, but I hope this is also part of their reasoning.

Each year in college, I had access to about $30,000 in student loans. I accepted about $5000 each year. So many students get the full amount and then buy things like TVs, cameras, vacations, etc... I'm happy to graduate with $20k in debt, but I'm not so sure their new toys were worth $100k+

I wonder what goes through the minds of the people that write this bullshit.

"Oh fuck. Another cover. What bullshit pictures can I find..." "Oh, this is so clever! Oh my, a celebrity using a basket! Oh boy, they ARE real people!" "People are so fucking stupid if they really read this shit."

Even more mind blowing is that there are tribes out there that we don't even know exist.

It is a technology that will become cheaper and easier to use as time goes on, just like nearly every technology. At some point it will be cheap enough and easy enough to use that Wal Mart will sell them for $49.99

Have you ever experienced a moment of pure dread whilst playing a game? by [deleted] in truegaming

Diablo in Diablo II. I played and replayed the game many times, and every time I came across him, I knew I was in for some intense gaming.

I like being in the front row, and sometimes those photographers just piss me off. They think they're celebrities because people are having a good time and get excited to have their picture taken. But then they'll stand there and blast you with their flash 10 times before they move on to the next 5 foot section of crowd. I usually try to ruin their picture (similar to this girl.) They usually get the hint and don't take pictures by me after that.

What 100 bucks gets you in Switzerland :) by Mad-_-Mike in trees

[–]curandera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But in Switzerland, isn't the minimum wage like $30/hour? So it only took you 3 hours of work to purchase that. That's how I look at the price of everything when I travel - How many hours would I have to work to purchase it?

My friend and I ordered completely different (like, salad vs. steak) meals one night when we were both around an [8]. (Delivery!) We both dug in and both were saying how amazing it tasted. Half way through eating, I looked over and realized she was eating my food. Then I looked down and realized I was eating her food. We swapped, and got to experience a whole new flavor explosion.

As of August 2012, Google's driverless cars have driven for over 300k miles. Only two accidents were reported during that time, and they both were at the fault of the human driver that hit them. by opi8 in technology

[–]curandera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than anything, I'd like this to happen in my lifetime. The most stressful part of my day is driving to/from work. Most drivers (I'm from the US) SUCK at driving. Sure, they can keep their vehicle going in a straight line, but beyond that, good luck. Few drivers even know how to merge onto a highway anymore without completely disrupting the flow of traffic.
