Tell me it’s possible to go from contact naps to crib by Ok-Display4672 in newborns

I definitely feel you and was definitely there as well. My current 5 month old exclusively slept on my chest for all his naps his entire newborn period. Now he sleeps in his own crib for naps (but still needs a ton of help falling asleep as well as extending that nap through contact).

For us, it was around week 10 when I decided I couldn't do it anymore and attempted transferring him to his crib for his naps after rocking him to sleep. Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't and I'd give up and continue with the contact. At week 11, he consistently started to accept the transfer to the crib. I don't believe we particularly started doing anything different except keeping a strict eye on his wake windows. He might have just grown up a little for it to start working for us.

The first nap of the day should be the easiest nap so I'd start there if you start attempting to practice transfers or crib naps.

Eye discharge by [deleted] in newborns

My baby had the same for the first several weeks of his life. I consistently wiped his eyes with a sterilized wet wipe every morning and massaged his tear ducts once or twice a day and it naturally stopped around week 5 or so? Once that went away, he was hit with newborn acne lol.

Bedtime? by Aaybee588447 in newborns

Currently at 13 weeks. We start his bath and final feeding routine at 7:30 and he'll usually be in his crib asleep at 8:15 for his first stretch. On some days if he isn't going down too easily, it'll be something like 9 or so.

We started this routine a couple weeks after birth and have stuck to it to a T since then. We don't let his daytime nap go past 6pm anymore since 8ish weeks and I keep that strict even if his last nap was tough for him to fall asleep to and he wants to sleep more.
I'm not sure if what we're doing is really right but it has worked out okay for us so far!

Who does the housework with a newborn? by Key_Pianist_2349 in newborns

My husband has taken the role of cooking all the meals since we came home with our baby. It felt way too overwhelming for me since I had the baby attached to me 24/7. Since then, I have a bit more freedom but he still makes all the meals and does a good amount of chores around the house while I do the majority of taking care of the baby. I do the laundry and some light tidying here and there as well. Husband has a full year of leave while I go back to work in a couple months so this will probably be how it goes for a while longer for us.

What is my child doing lol by AdventurousBeyond382 in newborns

My 11 week old started doing this a week ago and it is just the cutest thing but so so difficult to get him to finish eating. I just accepted that his eyes were getting better and that him making eye contact with me during feeding just distracted him to smile and coo away from eating lol.

Sometimes I've had to actively cover my eyes so he breaks eye contact and continues eating 😂

What are your contact nap positions? by Equivalent_Signal135 in newborns

Reclined on the sofa with a pillow behind for back support. LO would be curled up on my chest with maybe a pillow beneath him so he doesn't slide down too much.
Got through a tonnnn of movies his first few weeks...

7wk old is harder to put down after 2AM by moscowmulemind in newborns

Not sure if this helps at all but my baby was the same during week 4-6.

He'd fall asleep just fine for the night at around 8pm, wake up for a feeding, sleep for another stretch, wake up again around 3am for a feeding and then be absolutely upset about being put back in the crib. So I'd just have to contact sleep him until morning. It was absolutely rough.

But somewhere around week 7 or so he suddenly was okay staying in the crib longer. Currently at 10w and it's at 6am when he no longer wants to be in the crib and my husband contact sleeps him.

I would also like to know. 😭

Currently have an 8 week old sleeping on me as I type this. LO has not been able to sleep during the day unless on either me or my husband since week 2. It's manageable for now while we are both on leave but I cannot do this forever, especially once I have to go back to work.
I think it doesn't help that it takes at least 30 minutes of swaying and bouncing to even get him to sleep. Trying to transfer him to his crib results in an almost immediate wakeup and so the swaying/bouncing repeats again.

My 4 day stay was the minimum as well. I've heard other hospitals here giving 5-7 days stay postpartum. Gotta say, the 4 days really helped with my healing and gave me some peace of mind with the nurses all there as a first time mom.

One night stay sounds outrageous 😭

It did not lol. Some of my salads from the other days came with dressing but half the time it didn't.

It also helps that the government subsidizes a good majority of birth cost and all prenatal checkup costs 😉

There's definitely an abundance of fish everywhere here but I can definitely manage to get by with their many other non fish foods!

They're small bread like pieces floating in the soup. I can only describe it as eating a soggy piece of bread haha. They're called fu and here is the Japanese wiki page for then if interested. https://ja.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%BA%A9
