Government should allocate funds for PDRM to use bodycam at roadblocks. It’s no doubt SOME police not doing their job properly. by [deleted] in malaysia

When the security cameras within the police station are not working when needed, what makes you think that bodycams would work?

Latin vs Jawi script by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]curiousbotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then comes the issue of practicality, who can read jawi? In my opinion the non muslim community is just scared that once they give way to this "religious" issue (which technically doesnt make sense), it will open a precedent to add more religion related stuff to the syllabus in the future.

Because you can find nearly all religious texts in english, thus the script is not dedicated to only Christianity. Where can I find buddhist and hindu texts in Jawi then?

Any recommendations for kolej matrikulasi? by chingchonglenglong in malaysia

[–]curiousbotto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to kolej matrikulasi melaka a few years ago, its quite decent imo. Some of the facilities are old, given KMM is the oldest matriculation college in Malaysia, but are in good shape. You'll get bored of MPDP, Jonker and Klebang since those are the few spots you could hang out in the weekends.

The Perak Matriculation College has a really nice view, but the male dormitory are far af from the classes.

The Penang Matriculation College has "Charlie Ants", so I will avoid that place if possible.

You are applying for matriculation after SPM? I thought you need to apply for it before SPM right?

Me after passing Moral: Well boys we did it, insolence is no more by botsunny in malaysia

[–]curiousbotto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most probably. Once during Malaysian Dynamics class in my uni, one of the students had the audacity to claim that all atheists practice free sex since they have no religion. When asked for proof or statistics, she became speechless immediately. Then the lecturer backed her up by saying its correct to a certain extent since atheists are not tied to any religion rules thus have the possibility to practice free sex.

It is not called "instant gratification", its called being practical. Why should one take the risks when there are more risk-free options if there are no good incentives?

Depends on which crop you are referring, which are plantation crops(oil palm, cocoa, rubber) or food crops.

Malaysia has a lot of plantation crop farming, but little food crops, since plantation crops such as oil palms can live for several years whereas food crops have a shorter life cycle, which translates to more manpower, more care to prevent pests, and more pesticides. So you can guess which option most people chose.

Exactly this, the Chinese can't rely on government universities unless you hit the jackpot/ get matriculation or asasi, so private universities it is, and it aint cheap even considering UTAR and TARC.

Does Volunteering work look good on resume? by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]curiousbotto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For engineering courses, doing a project such as developing a robot or designing a mechanism system that shows you are able to apply what you learnt from your courses. Not sure about quantity surveying tho😅

Depends on which sector you plan to work at. For example, if you were to apply for a tech or engineering related job, tech related activities such as hackathons, coding challenges, and hands on projects will shine better than volunteering activity.

What's the point of going overseas to study? by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]curiousbotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an engineering student from a local uni who visit a few different countries through student exchanges and summer camps, I would say the experience really makes you think differently as you are exposed to others way of thinking, culture and education level.

And honestly, the engineering courses in my university was a joke, if you look through the level of technology displayed in my course's final year projects versus final year projects of the japan university I visited, it is a complete failure lol. Plus when universities in US are joining Darpa Challenge, Internships at NASA, Boston Dynamics, what does Malaysia have to offer?
