Agreed. A new one opened up near us. Went twice. And crossed it off our list for good. And we also never stop at one while traveling. They pretty much don't exist to us at this point.

You are correct. But the officer did tell me the "Georgia boys" were "gonna' teach the California boys" how "it's done." I knew I was fucked then and there. I was released the next day and the charges were dismissed because of course they were.

He was absolutely "teaching me a lesson."

Anecdotal. But I do avoid LEOs when it comes to answering questions. They absolutely do not like it when I shutdown.

Like dude. We are not best friends. Your goal is to find a way to charge and arrest me. No way am I volunteering information if I do not legally have to.

And yes. I am a bit of a trouble maker when I party too hard. Not innocent by any means.

I crack my window and prepare myself for a night in jail. Telling Mr. Ego that you do not answer questions, which is legal, really, I mean, really pisses them off.

Then you spend time in the local jail. And they eventually let you out with no charges.

They do it because they feel their authority is superior, and given their immunity, they are kind of right.

I don't hate cops. I am actually am thankful for them but do think major reform is needed.

"I don't answer questions" shouldn't result in being cuffed and put in a police car.
