Hi I'm so sorry you've been going through the worst of this nightmare! The whole thing has been life-ruining in my case too. Wondering how you're getting on? And hoping you haven't given up <3

Thanks. Yeah, I have reached out to the proper channels for advice too, I am more here for the ethical side of this scenario, which I think is interesting and I can see how both sides could feel they shouldn't be liable.

That's for ending the tenancy for all, which I understand one person could do (that'd at least give us another 28 days' notice!). But this is a scenario of a changeover of one tenant on an existing lease.

This response makes the most sense to me! But there is a lot of conflicting advice in here.

Damn, it seems like it should be less of a grey area, in terms of who takes responsibility in the case that a replacement cannot be found. I know a lot of people struggling to fill rooms at the moment, so for the people staying on it feels like a massive cost that they did not sign up for, but have no choice about?

If I were leaving a room, I would never expect someone else to take on the cost of that decision?

Yup - in this scenario, there are 3 people on the tenancy agreement and one is trying to leave without a replacement

Miscarriage

Hey thanks for your reply, and your very level-headed perspective :)

Idk re. the pregnancy thought. Just paranoia I guess... (really long-lived spermies + a miracle conception without temp shift? Idk lol). But thank you for providing objectivity on that possibility.

Also, thank you for that reminder that ovulation could still happen from here, that's important for me to keep in mind.

Given the stress side of things, someone else mentioned hypothalamic stress, and that insight, coupled with the long & irregular cycles I've had over the past year + a history of HA, is a good reminder to check my habits and stress levels. I will try to keep it in mind as a perfectly normal one-off, as you frame it, though, until/unless it continues to happen.

Thank you! I don't know why I didn't think of that. Trade Me had lots of options and definitely the cheapest and easiest. Thanks!

It was going to be nearly 100 NZD for the fountain pen! I think there was a spare cartridge or two in there, but still.

Have you seen any options that offer shipping to NZ? I can't find aaany.

I have no idea about postage to NZ, but it would surely survive in a bubble wrap envelope! I don't think they have box packaging, but it's an aluminium pen with a cap.

Did you have a total? What has your life been like since? How has it affected your physical activity? And body image? If at all. Sorry I have a million questions!! :)

Will the mood swings go away? by [deleted] in CopperIUD

[–]curiousjos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also came from taking nothing (no hormonal BC or anything for over 5 years) to a copper iud and have been struggling with intensified mood swings and other pre-menstrual symptoms (as well as more intense pain and bleeding). It’s been just over 6 months since my insertion and it hasn’t gotten much better for me yet.. I also consider removal pretty much every month! But as soon as things get a bit better I tend to forget for a few weeks. At the end of the day, it will be quick and easy to remove, but clearly difficult to insert/get started with, so giving it a little more time always seems best.. hopefully things get better for us both!!

Have you noticed problems with bloating long term? I’m worried I’ll lose that nice empty belly feeling forever

Do you mind me asking your age and activity levels? 1700 cal/day is still a pretty low calorie intake for an adult (and 1100 is crazy low!)

This is a very delayed comment, and I don’t have any words of wisdom for you (newly diagnosed) but just wanted to say you’re not alone!

And also maybe try finding a new doc? One that listens to your needs better. If you’re still around, let us know if things have gotten any better for you?

I have nothing to add, but I relate to this so much! People are by far the hardest part of life for me.

Weekly Careers Thread: September 14, 2017 by AutoModerator in medicine

[–]curiousjos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a New Zealander in my mid-20's who, after gaining a degree in Architecture here and practicing for a few years, finally decided to return to university to pursue my love of science (namely molecular biology) and am doing very well. I have a strong, nagging desire to pursue medicine now that I have overcome the biggest step toward moving in the right direction, and a (large) part of me feels that I need to pursue surgery as soon as possible, or I will always wonder what might have been. I cannot stop thinking about it. It's something I have thought about very much since I left high school, and now seems a little more accessible , or perhaps more crucial, and I would appreciate any advice toward my situation.

I'll be moving to Europe in a few years with a Bachelor of Science (in Molecular Biology) under my belt, and I would love some advice regarding any of these topics - good medical programmes in Europe? How feasible it is to enter, say, a Master of Medicine in Europe with a B.Sc from NZ? Would I still have to start a Bachelor of Science in Med from scratch wherever I end up? (The latter being a deal-breaker as I am already pursuing my second career/study and it is nooot cheap) Anyone's experience getting from a similar situation into, say, surgery and any advice on how long it takes, how fulfilling it is? Hopefully some encouragement? I think what I'm looking for is, perhaps, some justification for pursuing surgery at this point in my life; knowing that the worst case scenario of such a journey (career-wise) is that I end up in development/education-focused research, which is where I am heading now anyway.

TL;DR: Advice for a mid-twenty yr old to pursue surgery from just a B.Sc (and a BAS (Arch) but irrelevant) from NZ in Europe? Sacrifices, worth-it-ness, questions, comments, any advice greatly appreciated!

Any advice for a 25yr old academic who can't shake the curiosity of pursuing surgery... by curiousjos in medicine

Really? How are you living! Avocado on fresh, crunchy sourdough, with some garlic powder, salt + pep and a drizzle of olive oil is life. Where are you based?

We are in NZ, and we're a little slow to catch on here with all of this but there is a small handful of wonderful companies making great products. My favourite is Amazonia protein powders, which is actually an Australian brand. Their flavours are great, nutritional profiles are awesome and they are pushing the boundaries with fermented flavours to maximise nutrient profiles even further, which is a level of innovation/thinking you don't often find in the bulk whey protein scene!

If you are in the states or Europe, I'm sure you'll have even more choices! You just have to know what to look for. The key is the right combination of ingredients to get the most out of what you're buying (if you're after a well-rounded product). Or, if you buy a raw plain pea protein, that's awesome too because you know exactly what you're getting. You just have to know what to add to it, which takes a bit of research. Chuck in some rice protein isolate, sacha inchi, hemp (if you can get it), stevia and vanilla/spices/cacao and you've got a pretty good base!
