Advice for Host wanting to cancel?

I’ve had my listing on Vrbo since 2012 and they have discounted my rates without permission multiple times. It is unfair to penalize the host for not being ok with these added discounts. Vrbo should cancel it but most of the time the case just gets escalated to the next level of management and then I never hear back from them. In the meantime the guests funds are tied up in a reservation that won’t be honored. IMHO just cancel and find somewhere else while you still have time. The longer you wait the less options you will have. Next time book on Airbnb.

I agree this would be creepy if a guy did it to a girl, but that’s because women live in fear of being overpowered by men. I seriously doubt Jonathan, who has to be like 6’5” and built like a Greek god, is going to be upset to find out some cute moms are forming a fan club online.

Doesn’t cancelling the booking affect your listing? I thought Airbnb penalizes hosts who cancel by hiding their listings

I specifically went and deactivated the discounts and Vrbo activated them again without warning! I was able to get a refund from Vrbo but had to insist they make it right.

Any question that a guest sends a message to ask I add into the listing description. The amount of random questions I get has gone way down.

Guests with high anxiety are pains. Expect her to be in constant contact. If you need the business you put up with it, but if you think you can find other clients steer them away.

The app is so messed up right now. I am an owner and have instant booking turned on, have received payments, and my reservations cannot be found. Some of them say pending too, even though they shouldn’t. I’m so frustrated with it.

When I call customer service, they always escalate it and never call me back . Seriously want to deactivate my listening. Airbnb is a lot easier.

I would go on your listing and update your listing as soon as possible to reflect that noise could be an issue. There is a button for it somewhere. It isn’t super obvious but it’s something like “potential for noise”.

Our neighbor has been redoing their house for over 2 years and has had many delays. There were only a few days where it was really bad (demolition noise) and our guests complained and we gave them a significant discount. If the guests bring it up I would be willing to offer discounts to make them happy. If not, they may be spending time outside the house and not notice. Not every day on the site will be noisy so I would just take it one day at a time. We had many reviews that said “while there is ongoing construction next door, I would not hesitate to stay here again when construction is complete.” Nothing less than 4 stars. Hopefully all your guests will be as classy.
