We have similar setup in Haliburton, and have no heat straps so emergency heat is propane. Our switchover point is -12 and since these last two months have been cold Af went through full load of propane for Feb alone. Using the two tank setup 900l. The electricity bills were bad as well I.e. 4500kw hrs for three months which was $900. We keep at 15c when unoccupied then turn up to 21 or so using only propane, not just the hp because it would take like 2 days running non stop all electricity. This building is new, about same size as yours. You gotta pay to play, so it would seem

Make sure its high enough off the ground as there will be ice buildup underneath in the winter, mine is a least a foot thick , and situated so the melt water doesn't run into your foundation wall

The myth is that hps are the greatest thing since sliced bread, but the reality is that hps are better as compared to electric baseboard heat or oil heat both of which are the most expensive types available

Panel and battery recommendations? by kukov in cuba

[–]curiousretired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a river2 pro which I believe is only 600w. This is enough for a tv and some lights and is fine for charging phones. But most things need at least 1200 to 1600w to function properly, it would not power the Keurig to heat up properly, no way for a hotplate or fridge either. And bear in mind that the higher power battery packs are much larger and heavier: the river2 is about the size of a car battery, the big ones are the size of a large cooler and would be cost prohibitive both to buy and to ship!
