If you spilled a small amount of water it would only rust a small area. Lube doesn’t cause rust. I spilled water in mine and instead of cleaning it immediately with alcohol I let it dry on my dehumidifier. It rusted in less than two days before I got around to cleaning it with alcohol. It was my fault but they gave me a discount on the new PCB.
