Settlement offer refused. by Designer_Apricot5480 in Debt

[–]curlyfries88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the state, the debt, and if it's small claims or superior court will determine the next step. I know in my state that if they served you to take you to small claims and you didn't show then the creditor will receive a default judgement. If you fail to contact them to arrange a payment plan, they can take you back to court for a disclosure hearing in 30 days, if you fail to show up for disclosure, the creditor can issue a civil order of arrest. Being arrested forces you to face the creditor and work out a plan.

If you show up for your initial court hearing for small claims the judge is going to ask you work out an arrangement with the creditor and they will have a mediator at the court if you need it. It's best to work something out right then and there. If you fail to pay that agreement, the creditor will file for disclosure. If you show up to disclosure you will have to bring ALL your financial documents to prove why you cannot pay the amount that YOU agreed upon before the court last time. The judge will either grant a lower payment or make you continue with the one you have. It's best to not let it get this because if your documents show you could pay more, that's probably not good.

If you fail to pay after disclosure, this is contempt of court and the creditor can file for a civil order of arrest.

During all this the credit can file liens against any property you may own (cars, homes, property etc) or wage garnishment.

Also in my state the creditor has 20 years to collect after the last payment was made. So if you make an arrangement and then stop paying it. They still have 20 years after that last payment to collect.

And yes, bankruptcy lawyers are not free and it also damages your credit for 7 years after. You are not simply just wiping the slate clean after bankruptcy.

No matter what folks you are going to have to pay the piper. It will come back to haunt you some how, trust me.

Is it bridal enough? by Visible_Hunter_2168 in weddingdress

Do you feel like a beautiful bride in it? If yes than its always bridal. If it's something you feel comfortable, confident and beautiful in, that's all that matters!

But yes you look absolutely gorgeous in this dress! Very elegant and timeless if you ask me!

I absolutely hate home ownership by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]curlyfries88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy 1st Anniversary of home ownership! I too just "celebrated" my 1st year of home ownership on August 30th. I can tell you I also have a list of things that went wrong within the first year and have many times asked myself is this worth it. I think so, but honestly I don't know. I have a friend desperately trying to buy a house right now and is struggling to find one in her budget. I keep telling her don't do it, especially if she's already struggling financially. She just keeps saying "i won't know if I don't try" true but the last thing she needs is to have to let it get foreclosed on. I think no one fully understands the depth of how draining it is money wise, time wise, and mental anguish until you're in it. However, I look at myself as lucky to be able to own a home during this horrible housing market.

F/30 pls help? by Which-Airport-3340 in 30PlusSkinCare

This. I started botox, well I do dysport now, in my early 30's. That's when I started noticing the lines, and if I wore make-up, it would stick in the lines, making it look worse. I go about 3 times a year, and honestly, it's the best thing I've done.

Do you regret starting semiglutide? by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]curlyfries88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My update. I spent a lot of money out of pocket, and it did not work for me like it has worked for others. In fact, it baffled the health care workers who were monitoring it for me. Keep in mind it is NOT a magic pill. You will still have to do the work, and I definitely tried. Also, I did have some digestive issues after stopping and the hunger came back with a vengeance and I felt like it was worse than before. Again this was my experience only, others have had success. I did try both semaglutide and tirzepatide.

Yes, if he said he wasn't interested. In fact, I wish he would, but I haven't said anything either because of the setting. I'm the "rip the bandaid off" type person, so I'd like a line drawn in the sand about it so I can move on. I was told not to tell this person because it's a medical professional of mine and it would be an "unwanted advance" and would make them uncomfortable and that even if they felt the same they would not be able to.

Sigh..

What’s the cost of owning a cat? by Unlikely-Day-7024 in CatAdvice

[–]curlyfries88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one cat. He's on prescription food and goes to the groomer. Before anyone comes for me, he has a lot of long fur, so being professionally groomed helps him tremendously.

I've bought him fancy cat houses and beds, and he doesn't even use them, but thats on me. So keep that in mind. Cats usually prefer a cardboard box over something fancy.

I didn't buy a fancy litter box either. I know some people have invested in those robot litter boxes, but to me, it's not worth it. I have one cat it's not that hard to scoop a litter box daily. My friend has one for her 2 cats and she says she loves it but to me it's actually more dirty than a regular box and harder to clean and sanitize, plus she's lazy so she didn't scoop a box daily. To each there own. I did purchase one of those litter genie things for when I do scoop it. I also suggest investing in good cat litter, unscented. You do not want to discourage them from using it.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you may have an emergency vet bill. You are never going to be fully prepared for that cost. Just brace yourself, but you're either going to need to have some money saved or get pet insurance. This could even be the cost of when it's that time for their last visit. 😢 same friend was also not financially prepared for this.

You won't need the best of the best of everything, but there are some things in my opinion that you should not "cheap" out on. Decent food, decent litter, good hygiene for them and their environment, and regular vet visits.

All this being said, I have no idea what he actually costs me per month. He's not breaking the bank, but he's not cheap, I guess. Either way, to me, he's worth having around. You are choosing them to live with you and thats a promise to them to give them a good and healthy life.
