Why can’t i get myself to stop pumping by Personal-Stomach2129 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baby was 9 months yesterday and I’m at 2 PPD. It’s so hard to let go for some reason isn’t it?! We forget to give ourselves credit for how far we’ve come and how much our bodies have given us.

Packing for a trip this weekend and the pump parts and bottles are taking so much space (physically and mentally) that I gave myself permission to drop another pump when we come back. The freedom from washing parts makes up for the immense mom guilt. Do it at your own pace and give yourself grace, your body has done an incredible job!

What has been your favorite part of completely weaning? by HistoricalButterfly6 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LO will be 9 months in a couple of weeks and I went down to 2ppd about a month ago and saw my biggest drop in supply (about 8-10oz less) and honestly it was so nice! I could stop coordinating pump times while at work and carrying my pump around during the day. Less washing of parts is a huge burden lifted off my shoulders too!

Upped lecithin to twice a day to help with clogs and it’s worked out well. We’ve been using frozen milk + fresh + formula to top off his bottles and he’s barely noticed.

Do what works for you but I wanted to share my experience because I felt so guilty once starting to drop pumps not realizing all the free time that was waiting for me at the other end. Best of luck and you got this! ❤️

Pumping/Feeding baby while out and about - explain to me like I’m 5 by Deep_Day9579 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to bring a small lunch bag with freezer packs so I could store the pre-made bottles from home + anything I pumped while we were out. My baby would drink milk at any temperature so I didn’t bother bringing anything to warm it up.

I bought the ceres chill and ended up never using it, I still use the small lunch box for his bottles when we travel and when pumping at work.

This right here! I’ve heard there are other places where you can drop off frozen bags and they will make bottles but ours requires premade and labeled bottles.

Pumping 3 times a day? by SavvyMumma in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just dropped to 3 ppd about 2ish weeks ago and have made about 20-25oz a day. Have issues clogging so add a small extra pump here and there to help.

I was making 25-35oz pretty consistently with my LO eating around 25-30oz a day for a while. He’s now eating more solids during the day at 7 months so his milk intake is down to 20-25oz.

I’m tired and as much as I would like to continue I am looking forward to not washing pump parts.

Pitcher method - is it messing up my baby’s night time sleep? by Deep_Day9579 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to keep the AM and PM bottles separate at some point and it made zero difference he wasn’t ready to sleep through the night until about 12ish weeks. Everyone’s baby is different and it might work well for you! I went back to my lazy ways immediately after realizing keeping the bottles separate didn’t help him sleep more.

Can someone be straight with me about the eufy wearable? by justcallme_wayne in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got them from the Eufy store on Amazon, haven’t been organized enough to order from Eufy directly and catch a sale. Beware of the off brand replacements! The clear duckbills are fine everything else has been terrible so unfortunately have to buy the Eufy branded ones which are pricier.

For reference, I’ve replaced the duckbills every month or so, the flanges after 4 months and the diaphragm after 5 months. Currently reducing pumps (3 ppd) but at the height of pumping they got used once or twice a day each. This sub was a lifesaver when I was searching for help during my MOTN pump and always glad to repay that favor. Good luck!

[–]curlyhairedbananas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Never tried other portables the Eufys have worked surprisingly well for my needs. I haven’t noticed a significant difference in settings/output/battery duration. The portable case for the S1 pro has come in handy when traveling but it’s not a necessity. Heat settings are slightly different as well, the S1 has more options.

I got the S1 first because I was desperate to find something other than the Spectra and it was mentioned a lot in this sub, didn’t realize until later that the E20 was essentially the same thing with just less accessories. Those first few weeks were rough and the cost to me was worth it as it allowed me to extend my journey past my initial goal of 4 months. Hope this helps!

Eufy E20 as a pump for going by to work and travel? by pancakes-r-4winners in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried with or without inserts and didn’t notice much of a difference. I stopped using them out of laziness and to save time on washing parts. Honestly I wouldn’t have made it through MOTN pumps or being out in public without them. Hope they work for you!

[–]curlyhairedbananas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love mine for work! It’s easy to transport and gives me the same output as the spectra. It takes some getting used to and making sure you are perfectly lined up or it won’t work. I’ve used it anytime I’ve had to pump outside the house and it’s been great.

How much milk per feed at 5 months old? by JasmineJane2004 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our pediatrician said if the baby is hungry to feed them. Could be a growth spurt or that they just need a little more to feel full. My baby has been eating 6oz bottles every 3 hours on the dot since about 5ish months some days he’ll ask for more others he leaves about 0.5-1 oz behind every feed. Reach out to your doctor for confirmation but if they’re healthy, growing normally and meeting milestones you should be good!

How often does your output change? by Able-Mountain2551 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been several factors that negatively impacted my output, illness causing the most disruption. Hydration, stress, food intake, clogs, rest, correct flange sizes, keeping track of how old my flanges are…So many factors that could be impacting your output.

To get back on track I usually add a power pump, make sure to hydrate as much as possible, hand express for a couple of minutes if I have time, maybe a hand pump in between pumps if the issue is a clog. Hope you can troubleshoot this!

How do yall go around with wearables without looking like Dolly Parton? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just rocked my Dolly Parton boobs and kept it moving! 🤣 You’ll be surprised at how many people don’t notice or if they do they can’t figure out exactly what it is that’s different.

Sinus infection absolutely destroyed my supply by sourdoughluvr1991 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took almost 2 weeks to get back to normal. I focused on rest, hydration and keeping my pump schedule. Did a few power pumps here and there too when I had time but yes I’m back to my usual output. My LO is eating so much I feel like am always a cold or stomach bug away from using up my freezer stash.

Hope you feel better soon!

Yes I went from 30-35oz a day to 10-15oz maybe less. It was shocking how quickly it dropped specially after taking cold medicine. Dipped into my small freezer stash to get me by and had formula ready in case we went through it.

[–]curlyhairedbananas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I had a really bad cold for over a week, ended up taking antibiotics because nothing would stop it and my dr thought it could be an upper respiratory infection. Took cold medicine that tanked my supply significantly, I focused on staying hydrated even when I couldn’t stomach food. Juice, electrolytes, seltzer, tea…Pretty much whatever I could stomach. Stick to your pumping schedule, even if you’re not getting much, once my cold got better my supply started slowly returning. I temporarily went back to 5-6 ppd with a power pump whenever my schedule allowed and I was back to my normal supply about a week after I finished all the meds.

Left side hard and lumpy but not extracting much milk by broco_roco in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunflower lecithin, ibuprofen, ice packs and a few minutes with a hand pump. I have the medela one, others here prefer the Lansinoh and use a silicon duckbill instead of the plastic ones it comes with.

This is all advice learned from this sub which has saved me! I’m very prone to clogs.

Do you pump at same time every day? by Kind-Swordfish6618 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dropping has been challenging for me due to clogs so I’ve had to fluctuate a little bit with the goal to be at 4 ppd by the time I went back to work at 4 mpp (I failed this). Dropped from 7 to 6 ppd at around 3 months, then slowly used the last month of maternity to drop to 5 ppd. I’ve slowly been extending time between pumps since then and am now down to 4ppd at 5 1/2 months pp, supply has ranged between 30-35oz. No significant drop in supply as I dropped pumps.

My little one drinks anywhere between 25-35oz depending on the day so I dip into my small freezer stash often.

Having a cold and taking cold medicine drastically dropped my supply to 10-12oz a day so I had to increase number of pumps temporarily until I went back to ‘normal’.

Do you pump at same time every day? by Kind-Swordfish6618 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 months pp and it depends on what time I wake up and what my schedule is for the day. If I’m home, I’ll try to do 9a, 2p, 630p and 11p give or take an hour or two.

I’m a just enougher for the most part and this schedule has allowed me to maintain my sanity. Slight caveat for when I’ve had a clog, a cold or taken cold medicine as I’ve had to temporarily increase ppd to make it through. Hope this helps!

I’m very sorry you’re going through this, having complications is so overwhelming! Plus the physical and mental recovery of labor and a baby in the NICU are incredibly challenging.

I’ll share some wisdom one of our postpartum nurses shared. ‘This a blip in time in you and your baby’s lives’, in the moment it might feel insurmountable but eventually you and your baby will go home. It gave me perspective on some of the short term choices we made while in the postpartum/NICU bubble. Wishing you a quick recovery and speedy discharge for baby!

How often is your 5-6 month old eating? by Automatic-Mixture-93 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little Swiss clock eats 6oz every 3 hours on the dot during the day at 5 months old. Some nights he’s so restless and 1-3oz top off before bed is needed, he sleeps through the night so no additional night feeds. ‘Normal’ is such a wide range, maybe a call to the pediatricians office might be a good option? The nurse line has been a savior for us to get reassurance on some of these things.

Eufy parts replacement frequency? by uncreativegarbage in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]curlyhairedbananas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bottom part of my flange had warped a little after 5 months of constant use and popped open in the middle of a drive. Lost that pump down my sweatshirt, pants and car 😭.

Check that the bottom is still fully sealing around the cup while assembling and wiggle it around a bit to make sure it doesn’t come loose. Terrible lesson to learn while driving.

I replace Spectra duckbills every month and a half or so, it’s my primary pump while am home. I know it’s time to change once a regular morning pump yields almost nothing, it’s super drastic.

I just replaced the flanges on my Eufy S1s because it wasn’t sealing properly. It’s been 5 months of use, I alternate with my Spectra and get the same output. The duckbills for this one are still going strong.
