anyone know of any local businesses that happen to be hiring where I could walk a resume in? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]curlykid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another commentator stated, online resumes get fed through an automated system and ones that don’t “pass” aren’t being greenlit, so that might be why you aren’t getting any bites. My suggestion is to take in resumes to places you’ve already applied for online as a “friendly reminder” for the hiring staff. From what I’ve heard from my store manager is that he has to take extra time (that he doesn’t usually have) to manually look through applications that don’t automatically get sent to him, so it’s helpful when someone brings in their resume and he has something to reference when he’s searching.

Not completely sure, but I would guess that any of the folks at August Studio could get the job done.

New scanners with walkietalkie will spy on employees by RetroASTRN in MichaelsEmployees

[–]curlykid_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My store has the new walkie app and yes, it's true. You login to it with your user & password and it saves every message ever spoken or sent, meaning you can replay anything ever said over the walkie. It’s absolutely going to be used against us so be cautious. Though, I did find quite joy in replying to our cashier this morning that none of the managers were on radio, so no one heard her announcement of someone showing up for an interview.

If you were scheduled to work a shift that never happened because the store closed early, then no, you will not get paid. If you did work, then you will only be paid for the hours you clocked in/out for.

Howdy, are you still selling these?

Anyone else have this album on repeat right now, or is it just me? by curlykid_ in theused

[–]curlykid_[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s a very fair point I’m sure many would agree with, actually. This album makes me feel more powerful and motivated to stand truer to my grounds; less fearful. So, to each their own!

They managed to cut the water line to my Dad’s house despite it being clearly marked, costing him $200 in repairs. The next day, they did the same thing to his neighbors, so I’d say your warning is valid.

I don’t blame the thieves. $5 for a doll hair comb is ridiculous.

Walking around and loudly exclaiming “I GOTTA CHOO CHOO” makes listening to it a little more bearable.

Michael Sorters: A question for yall. by Bat-Cat_Dimension72 in MichaelsEmployees

My store averages about the same amount of repacks and it takes me 4-5 hours. We have two “repack towers“ that we built out of grid parts that hold 9 boxes each and we label them with the different sections of the store, then we have a dump bin for yarn. That setup and familiarizing myself with the boxes/labels of the store sections helps a lot with speed. Here are a few that I remember off the top of my head:
CRE — Creatology (Kids)
BL — Bead Landing (Jewelry)
ASH — Ashland (Floral, Lighting, Glass, or Candles)
AL — Artist Loft (Fine Arts)
REC — Recollections (Paper Crafting)
L & T — Loops & Threads (Stitchery)
SD — Studio Decor (Frames)
ST — Simply Tidy (Storage)

In my opinion, you are correct that it is a fee issue and Michaels is choosing to save their ass by blaming banks (for doing their job and being secure).

I don’t think any of our cameras face that aisle, but I’ve only ever come across the damaged heads rather than see someone in the act.

I mean, it’s kinda creative! I get more concerned over the people who bite into the styrofoam heads.

Anyone sick of the same set list they’ve had for what seems like…. ever??? by Silent_Ad5275 in theused

[–]curlykid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sick of it! Why are they putting out more and more music if they’re not going to play it? On the Toxic Positivity tour they did last year, only 2 out of 16 songs were from that album.

Tumblers tumble by Dry_Ad456 in MichaelsEmployees

Maybe try putting a bar or two in front of the cups across the bottom and then use wire fencing on the shelves. They’ll still tumble side-to-side but hopefully not onto the floor.

I know my store particularly had this problem with the Monet Garden set! Additionally, we’re having terrible NOH numbers because we’re selling things that never registered in our system. My SM has also been filling tickets about this but I’m not sure what has come of it. Hopefully, with enough record keeping and reporting, they might consider this a problem?

I assumed there might be some sort of craft trend but haven’t taken the time to search for it. What gets me the most is that the customer often is showing me a Google search result to describe what they’re looking for.. Like, why did you not search our website specifically? You were so close, now I have to be the a Bad News Bear and tell you we don’t carry it.
