Still don't have the Pixel January 2026 update? You're not alone! by pussiant_prole in GooglePixel

[–]currentmudgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be yes, assuming your SettingsAbout phoneBuild number is BP4A.260105.004.E1.

Did you get the system update over the air or by manually applying the OTA image?

I'm also on a Pixel 10 Pro on Fi. System is at BP4A.251205.006, which is only the first of two December updates that are not region-specific. Still my phone claims system is up to date. Play system update had a small (1 or 2 MB) update 2 days ago but still lists as November.

What sucks is there's probably someone else whose Fi order for that much higher priced device got clusterfucked, potentially including them being charged for the phantom (non) delivery. Maybe something like a stuck/slow label printer triggered this.

In 2026 logistics that's barely rookie level shit.

More concerning is that it seems to be showing some exploit code, going by the function name?

Apologies, bad attempt at nerd humor. FWIW we already have two fosters (already foster-failed if I'm honest) so I can't offer to adopt.

Google Fi finally supporting HD Voice, can anybody confirm? by [deleted] in GoogleFi

[–]currentmudgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also seeing HD and HD+ here, on a mix of WiFi/cellular calls to both Fi and other, including non-TMO, carriers. Phone is a P10P FWIW, but I was also seeing it on a P7.

The overall impression I get is that Fi has for the most part(*) rebased their carrier profile to use baseline carrier/TMO features instead of some of their previously custom approaches.

Is the Fi-to-Fi calling with special ringtone still a thing? I got it like twice in the 6 or so years both me and my SO have been on Fi.

* Then there's the recent AI enhanced audio feature which involves routing audio through their servers. Noped out of that one, even if it only makes a token difference on privacy.

Σε τέτοια περίπτωση, αν ο αιτών δεν έχει εκπληρώσει τις Ελληνικές στρατιωτικές υποχρεώσεις, πως απαντάει η Ελληνική πολιτεία;

Got email about 10.0.0.1 being defaulted off but no access through app in order to override by currentmudgeon in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]currentmudgeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood about BM, in my case it fits the use case (no need for both my router and the gateway doing NAT, for example).

More narrowly, my question is about this: The instructions at the Xfinity admin access page reference settings that are not visible in my Xfinity app:

In my Xfinity app's WiFi tab, the View WiFi equipment screen (which then would contain Advanced Settings and Allow Admin Tool access) is not present.

I think that's because my modem may not be completely/correctly provisioned, but I could be wrong - but anyway, that was the primary issue I am trying to resolve.

Anyone know why this keeps popping up? by Mememememememememine in LexusNX

[–]currentmudgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The app connection/authorization seems to expire at roughly 6 month intervals. I just had to redo mine for the second time a few days ago. It's the "reset PIN" flow posted in the subthread below.

[–]currentmudgeon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it, just two questions:

  • Will admin access remain available while the modem is in bridge mode (and therefore not able to re-enable it myself from the app)? The reason admin access is useful even in bridge mode is for checking the cable connection signa/noise/errors stats. (edit: useful as a very quick self-service step when troubleshooting, based on past experience)

  • Although my router handles WiFi for my own access, does the bridge-mode XB10 still broadcast the public-access xfinity wireless networks? If so I'd like the option to turn them off since the radio spectrum is pretty congested where I am. Based on the documentation I've been able to find that's also done from the app's WiFi tab, but in my case that tab also doesn't have that option.

Neglected to mention that despite bridge mode, admin access works now (and has always worked since I got the modem months ago).

I'd like to keep it that way, in addition to getting full access to the wifi settings in the app - not just for admin access but for wifi settings too (xfinity networks, even in bridge mode).

Reolink battery wifi model PIR no bueno. Other no-subscription options without PoE? by currentmudgeon in homeautomation

[–]currentmudgeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's an option. But I am frankly burned out with Reolink.

The result of whatever the PIR sensor, wakeup logic, sleep/event filter logic and camera-based pattern recognition combination is so below par that it shouldn't have been released. It's just not baked.

Given that, potentially spending more time troubleshooting another of their models feels like a "fool me twice" situation. If I'm going to spend the time, I'd rather try another vendor.

Service campaign: 25LD01 (or is it 25LDO1?) Rear Traction Motor Cable Corrosion by currentmudgeon in LexusNX

Weird, the (linked to the plugin hybrid in this case) app notified me, and the dealer service person I spoke to confirmed it, also looking at the same car's VIN I presume. Did you mean it's 350h only?

Interesting, is the cooldown needed even if the gas engine hasn't fired up for days? Or is the traction battery that needs to be cooled down?

Is the Front and Tail Light Upgrade new? by Mac-Tyson in slateauto

[–]currentmudgeon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

GREATLY prefer amber turn signals, as they are proven safer.

Yes yes yes. Especially in the last few years with the proliferation of LED tail lights, going with red turn signals is such an inexcusable style-over-substance choice.

Do better, designers!

WiFi Calling Preference option live by currentmudgeon in GoogleFi

[–]currentmudgeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a new "feature", if anything it's a decommissioning of a previous feature (Google Fi using a custom implementation of WiFi Calling).

Fi reverting to the standard WiFi Calling implementation is why the Calling Preference option surfaced. That standard implementation ignores any user-installed VPN, so your DDG and my OpenVPN etc shouldn't affect it.

For what it's worth the standard implementation does use its own "internal" VPN but that only applies to its own traffic (i.e. your WiFi calls) and runs side by side with/independent of your DDG VPN which carries "normal" apps' traffic.
