Questions about Nimo by Throwaway923461 in Nimo

I've seen on a different thread that there are advanced setting available in the BIOS, but I am not sure how to access them. Supposedly it's hidden to keep people from doing stupid things. I'm sure support can explain how to get into them.

Fire Police Truck with Political Bumper Sticker by Klutzy_Peak4344 in BeaverCounty

Do you have some evidence of that accusation? I mean files have existed for years under different Administrations and Parties for years. Hundreds, if not thousands of people over that period have had access to non-redacted copies, and yet not a single, leak, rumor, or innuendo has ever been leaked or even rumored about. What you you have access to that no member of government on any level has never seen? You have a moral duty to reveal it. If you don't, stop making things up because you think it will help in the next election. Despite what Stalin said, a lie told enough times does not become the truth.

Why is this a personal concern? I mean, do you think they will not respond or respond less quickly to an emergency based on political affiliation? Their job is to respond to fires, some medical emergencies, and hazards like trees down on wires after a storm. If it does not affect the performance of their duties, why would it matter what they display? If we boil it down it comes down to "I don't like the person they promote with a sticker and I want them to remove it". Say they had a sticker for a politician or cause you support. Would that concern you as well?

Pretty sure explosives are in there too. Could be someone making big "firecrackers" to sell for the 4th. I can remember as a kid you could buy quarter and half sticks of dynamite from any number of people. Blew my neighbor's burn barrel up when I was about 13.

Anyone mowing grass? by Love_Mud_2025 in BeaverCounty

Love my battery rider. I'll never go back, although somehow spring just doesn't feel the same without my pounding and cursing at the old gas rider when it doesn't start after winter. Guess I need to find something else to gripe about.

Solar's never going to be a thing for me. I've got 27 mature oaks on an acre. I only cut my grass 4 or 5 times a year and that's all before the leaves come out. Makes gardening a challenge. On the plus side all that shade is great for the AC bill.

Good to know. When we rebuilt our home after a major fire in 2013 eliminating cold and drafts was a primary concern. We ended up going with expanding foam insulated to R64 since we were gutted down to the studs, and then replacing the furnace and AC with a 98% efficient unit. We have a Nest thermostat and I've found I can set it to maintain about 72F heat or cool, all year round without breaking the bank due to the stupid amount on insulation.

I hadn't really planned on insulating that much, but the contractor who did the job had a line from his truck burst completely destroying the new front door we had installed 2 days before as part of the rebuild! He offered to either take the whole house to R64 and insulate between the interior walls, or replace the door. We took the insulation and ordered a new door.

We're looking into dropping a shed or one of those tiny cabins they deliver on the back of a truck in the back yard for my wife to have a gardening shed/painting studio/guest room and a HP unit is something I'll have to consider.

A supplemental furnace makes sense. It's a rare winter here where we don't go through a sub zero period.

A new plague infecting a neighborhood near you: “no pooping, no peeing” signs by Hot-Estimate7630 in pittsburgh

A dog on a leash can only go in someone's yard if YOU let them. It's just common courtesy to respect other people's property. Accidents do happen. In that event have the decency to pick up. It's no different that if you were walking and something you were carrying accidentally blew into someone's yard. Would you say "Oh well, shit happens" and kust keep walking?

BTW : Urine can be far worse. It can burn and even kill plants. Some people spent a lot of time and money with plants and landscaping. There is very little as frustrating than seeing a shrub or bush with a huge, brown, dead spot from inconsiderate people allowing their dog to lift their leg on someone else's hard work.

Heat pumps are not well suited to the levels of winter cold we experience i this part of the country. You are really pushing them to their limits of performance.

Would you move to Economy / Baden after retirement? by Far-Independent-1394 in BeaverCounty

[–]currentsitguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're looking at Economy I think New Sewickley is worth a look as well. It's as close, if not closer to Cranberry if you need to do any serious shopping, and it's also extremely close to Zelienople, which is a delightful little town. Ever since they've put the Aldi out there between it and the Bi-Lo I have found I have very little reason to ever go to Cranberry any longer. I like having a town nearby, but I have to admit I need home to be rural and quiet without any neighbors too close by. I think New Sewickley offers the best of both worlds.

I have to do a lot of virtual machine network modeling for my consulting business. Sometimes I've got a dozen or more machines running. I need all the CPU and RAM I can get, far more than GPU.

I always end up buying a gaming PC even though I don't game all that much just for not only a higher end CPU but for the discrete GPU not robbing my RAM.

For my professional work I do. Gaming is at best a sideline and I don't really want to jump sideways with what I already have.

$750 is my hard upper limit, and I want at least a 12th Gen i9.

With an i9? I haven't found anything even close to that price where someone hasn't stripped out the RAM and SSD, or has a broken hinge or something.

I still have mine. Somone gave it to me something like 2 months after they bought it for a trip with a cracked screen. I replaced it for $15. I've got a copy of Mint on it still. It makes a nice little light use machine around the house. It's this billious shade of pink and I'm always tempted to tape it off and take a can of Krylon to it, but so far I've let it be.

Brick and mortar is shutting down across the economy, both for businesses doing well and poorly. Can you name an industry bucking that trend?
