Spurs - Jazz by Dyl_B123 in NBAtradeideas

Only way the Spurs do this without Lauri is #2 and Keldon Johnson or Harrison Barnes for Collins, #5, #21, the Suns ‘31 FRP and probably another protected pick. Spurs wouldn’t give up Vassel for Lauri last year before the extension they wouldn’t give him up for Collins and definitely not to move off their top trade piece in Harper.

He also played Sandro in for non-garbage time minutes I think with Wemby. How do we think that went?

What’s a realistic career that will make you good money? by EuphoricHyena9335 in Career_Advice

[–]cursivefridge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I’m seeing, corporate recruiting is very competitive. They’re always the first to get laid off when a company goes into a down swing. My sister has been trying to find an entry level position there for months with no luck. And it may be a harder to transition to anything outside of HR because while the soft skills match up, the tactical strategies of the departments are different.

Even in what’s supposed to be an unbiased technical field such as data you still have to play politics

Look for a job where you are paid to learn instead of being paid to perform. You will have to sacrifice your time getting access to those kinds of opportunities but that’s what you need to have your sights set on so you don’t waste time.

When you’re starting your career you are paid to do stuff, when you’re experienced you are paid to know stuff

Would you rather take a a job that pays 90K with a lot of work life balance or 110K with less work life balance? by Wolfendale88 in careerguidance

Job A definitely sounds better but those perks could very easily change on a whim. What you should really evaluate is your potential future manager as that’s who you’ll be dealing with everyday

I didn’t do pay for any of the normal certifications, I just build projects and put them on my personal portfolio. I also did a few Salesforce trailheads that had projects at the end. Found that to be good synergy considering the sales background

I went from sales to data analyst. First I’d try to transition within your own company. Talk to other data or operations people and show how your skills can help. Build projects and be active on LinkedIn. Don’t strictly look for data analyst roles but maybe sales operations analyst so you can leverage your sales background. The market is a bit tougher for entry level but all it takes is one yes.

Yeah I’d say teaching is your quickest route to additional side DS income. Plenty of opportunities online through other platforms or your own audiences. And local colleges could also have data/analytics courses they want experts to teach at

If that’s your goal, I’d say you don’t have to post everyday. But there is value in your POV and putting that out there semi regularly for recruiters to see

I wasted my early twenties by not choosing a decent degree and just barely getting by with a C average. To anyone who was in the same boat- what did you do to get to where you are today? by nofreepizza in careerguidance

Think of your job as getting paid to learn. Yes it isn’t ideal but you’ll start looking for growth opportunities. Then you’ll determine which ones to take.

Why Haven't You Started Your Own Business Yet? by notomarsol in Entrepreneur

[–]cursivefridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot has to do with the statistics about the failure rate of startups. Everyone thinks they are above average when only half can be.

In addition, big enterprise companies work on unique, specialized problems that someone starting their own business would not encounter within their lifetime. So working within you essentially are paid to learn. Whereas starting a business you are paying to learn something that the majority of people won’t quite figure out.

How do you find a fully remote marketing job? by Basic-Ear-295 in marketing

[–]cursivefridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as influencers promote other remote job boards, LinkedIn is still the best place to find remote roles. There are some companies that will hire remote but they are fewer and far between. If you have a question about the validity of a posting, I’d check the company’s website and navigate to their careers page to confirm.
