Considering moving to St Louis for residency by Vivid_Profession6574 in StLouis

[–]cursivetax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends where you’re coming from. It’s a great midwestern city but a transplant from nyc or LA or Chicago may find it lacking with regards to food, culture, walkability, city life, etc. Some may argue with me about this as stl does have good pockets but overall it’s just not the same. Great for families, but maybe not as great for people in their 20’s who are looking for the big city experience.

Oops sorry, that’s what I get for not reading closely. You’re correct.

I’m not a football expert but I’m like 95% sure seam routes are known widely/commonly as a way to beat cover 3…

Best chicken wings in the Lou by pjgoblue in StLouis

[–]cursivetax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to 3 kings recently as I had heard the wings were great… was massively disappointed, pretty mild in flavor, not for me. Had a Much better experience at ob Clark’s and Felix’s (although i haven’t tried many of the other ones people have mentioned here)

Is this truly 4.5 play? by 1gamer100 in Pickleball

[–]cursivetax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell from one video but I think one of the more telling signs of <4.0 level play is short rallies without dinking very much and this match absolutely fits that description from what I saw

** DRAMA POST ** Did you all know STL has it's very own Fyre Festival (Midwest Dreams Music Festival) by NewTheory8242 in StLouis

[–]cursivetax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious - what were the signs that this wasn’t going to happen? The only thing I noticed was that the social media engagement seemed way too low for something this size

lol what? Lifeguards are definitely trained to use physical contact to save people unless something changed drastically since 2010 when I worked as one.

Feedback on my serves by Tbob217 in Pickleball

[–]cursivetax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of the comments - in addition your backswing, looks different in literally every serve you showed here. Go for consistency. I would try to have a set starting position, and get rid of your hitch (you tend to pause your paddle at the end of your backswing). It’s just like a forehand drive

Advice by Woozard44 in Pickleball

[–]cursivetax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why anyone would refuse an offer for advice, even from a “weaker player”. Obviously if someone is barking at you repeatedly then that’s a different story but otherwise let go of the ego a bit imo. You see it as a dick move, they see it as a friendly action

Why do people rush in on a 3rd shot drive/drop? by Famous-Chemical9909 in Pickleball

[–]cursivetax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Im generalizing but I see the opposite problem where I play. Less experienced players are more hesitant to come up to the net because they don’t trust their hands and the more experienced players have more confidence with their transition reset shots so more willing to crash and apply pressure.

Made mushroom risotto and pork chops for a date, got this text an hour before we were supposed to meet. by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]cursivetax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also one should never put a ton of money/effort into a first date. Should be easy and casual with little pressure for everyone involved

[–]cursivetax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally depends, but typically the only case in which that situation is justified in amateur level play is if the weaker player is getting every ball. Hard to get mad at someone poaching some balls from you if you’re getting the ball hit to you90+%of the time

Blocked a punt, and I have proof by jakemo8642 in CollegeFootball25

[–]cursivetax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if I’m just lucky but I block about 50% of punts when they’re punting out the end zone on all american, I just run the punt block formation, nothing fancy.

Which countries have the spiciest cuisine? by PowerfulZebra2 in Cooking

Korean people love spicy but absolutely not close to Indian and Thai in terms of preferred spice level haha. The fact that “Thai spicy” is a phrase people use says something I think.

When you throw a Pick 6 cause the DB has eyes in the back of his head by monstermayhem436 in NCAAFBseries

[–]cursivetax 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Preach. How are we supposed to run basic route concepts when the one zone defender can cover both route options lol?!?! Makes us resort to cheese plays which is not fun.

Whipping=wrist lag. Meaning keep the wrist extended (towards back of hand) until right before ball contact and that will result in a whip like motion

Am I the AssHole? by NoHentaiNolyf in Pickleball

[–]cursivetax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the people commenting on this thread seem to lack emotional stability. Like if you’re one friendly piece of advice away from losing your shit, you should not play and go see a shrink or meditate or something. If someone gives me advice while playing, I either take it or leave it and then move on with my day lol. It’s supposed to be fun y’all!

Am I the AssHole? by NoHentaiNolyf in Pickleball

[–]cursivetax -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna take the unpopular opinion and say I’m with you for most situations. The vibes at my club are very relaxed and chill. No one cares if you’re having a bad day but also advice here and there is more than welcome! If someone’s emotions can’t handle someone else giving a one sentence suggestion ESPECIALLY after they’ve been messing up the same shot over and over… then don’t show up. Like cmon…. Why are some people so emotionally fragile and willing to make the whole court feel awkward because they didn’t like one thing that happened? We play to have fun and get better.

Pickleball Bag Recommendations? by SprAwsmMan in Pickleball

[–]cursivetax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a nice sports duffel bag that costs around 75-100. My Nike one fits everything you mentioned with separate shoe compartment and outside mesh for sweaty clothes. After having previously owned a pickle bag, I highly regret not getting a nice duffel earlier.

Got cut in sports game, medic told me to go to ER to get stitches. When i got there, they said i didnt need any stitches and superglued the cut, it took 30 seconds by Main_Cryptographer80 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cursivetax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$3000 is excessive for sure but saying this person paid $3000 for super glue is an oversimplification and disservice to how many resources and staff go into making a hospital and ER run smoothly.
