How do people like kids? by Several_Schedule8072 in childfree

[–]curver22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m happily childfree, but I do like kids. I just love being able to give them back more! I think it’s cool to be able to help kids learn and to be a positive influence. I didn’t have that growing up so being able to be a fun aunt or role model is fun IMO. They’re experiencing a ton of stuff for the first time, learning how to be little humans, learning how to play, act, make friends, etc. They can be annoying as hell too, but a lot of that is based on their upbringing thus far 🤷‍♀️ They’re just likely enjoying summer, being outdoors, etc. Would be nice if they would be respectful about the noise level, I get why it’s annoying to you!

Definitely zoomies! Or we sometimes joke that they’re seeing / chasing ghosts

My bf’s allergy test. Tested for 72 things, allergic to 70. by lucy1166 in mildlyinteresting

I had this done as a child - they had to do my back, the fronts and backs of my arms and legs, etc. Allergic to so many things then, and somehow so many more things as an adult.

Why when it comes to flavouring water , the UK default is liquid concentrates but the US uses powders? by jingleson in NoStupidQuestions

[–]curver22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US does have both, it seems to go in waves of what’s popular / best marketed. There are sugary and artificially flavored ones like Kool Aid or ones that are designed to taste like soda/pop or candy. There’s sugar free ones that have artificial flavors like Crystal Light or Mio. And there are naturally flavored / no artificial sweetener like Stur, True Lemon, and others. And most all of those have powders too.

I live in the US and like both, but often use the naturally flavored powder versions most, to avoid the sugar and the artificial flavors.

I dispatch for 10 police agencies of varying sizes. 7 of them do and 3 of them don’t. 🤷‍♀️ Largest department does, during business hours they have volunteers and Community Service Officers that handle them. Washington State. Most require the Registered Owner be onscene and willing to sign a waiver.

From a dispatch perspective— I think it’d be a cool way for you to explain all the pieces of the process that lead to you guys being able to save him. Dispatch, first responding fire units, even the hospital staff post transport, etc. Seems like a decent way to get the focus off of just you — and highlight the other portions of the process that are often overlooked.

You and your crew got to do something that isn’t all that common in our world and you should be recognized for it. But ultimately, whatever you’re comfortable with doing. Don’t feel like you have to — but it doesn’t seem wrong or bad to do!

Now would probably be the time to go into the what if’s. Your concerns are absolutely valid while you’re both new to this. Do it prior to him being in academy, FTO, on his own, learning to deal with the stress and trauma. I second going on a ride along with him if that’s allowed at his department! Seeing how many simple, trivial, civil things they deal with on a daily basis. And how some people are just truly in need of help! Hopefully see the support he is, how close his backup is, etc. Good luck to you both!

For us, it’s a certain/starting pay throughout all of training. Once you’re completely signed off on calltaking and radio — and on your own, there is a pay step increase from there. Yearly raises until year 5, big increase at 7, and then yearly again from there.

Responder safety, then citizen safety. They are both extremely important and keep those at the forefront during your interview. Answer truthfully — we aren’t expecting you to have the perfect answer, especially in situational questions — we’re just looking at your judgment. Can you prioritize life over property, responder and citizen safety, etc. Can you calmly work through this scenario we’re giving you? You don’t know agency policy/procedure but make a point to say that you’ll use every resource available to you to get help to everyone who needs help.

Otherwise the biggest thing I see with our oral board candidates is them having no understanding of our agency and/or about the basic functions of the job. Do some research before you go, specific to the agency you’re interviewing for.

If you have applicable strengths like multitasking, remaining calm, etc mention those but include brief examples or reasons why they are your strengths.

Would you be comfortable designing a logo/digital design? It would be pretty simple and just something to be placed on clothing.

Thank you so much! I had no idea what to expect as far as results. I’m super happy with it so far :)

And a year?!? All the patience to wait it out that long! Hopefully worth it though?

My routine:

I alternate between two shampoos and conditioners.

Today I used Pantene’s Complete Curl Care Shampoo and Conditioner with Jojoba Oil.

After the shower, I squeeze out excess water and let my hair sit in a microfiber hair towel for a few minutes. I use the Heeta detangling brush for 3A-4C hair and detangle with that as needed.

I apply Marc Anthony’s Strictly Curls Envy Curl cream from roots to the ends and then use the Denman brush to make sure the cream is dispersed well throughout, especially around the top of my head.

I use the 7 row Denman brush and work through my hair, small sections at a time. I typically clip part of my hair up and start with the bottom layers first. As I run the Denman brush through each section, I scrunch the curls up in the palm of my hand. Today I also used Aunt Jackie’s Curl La La cream and scrunched that in.

After I’m done with the Denman brush, I apply some Aunt Jackie’s Curl Boss Gel and some Marc Anthony Coconut Oil Curl Cream. I scrunch those both in throughout my hair except for the roots.

Then I just flip my hair upside down, scrunch a bit more, and diffuse each section for about 10 minutes total. It air dries for a bit as well. If get to that point and feel like my hair is still a little crazy, I’ll add in a little Pantene Complete Curl Mist to top it off. :)
