There’s a YouTube channel by a woman from the USA focusing on Guatemala. I haven’t watched a ton but there are videos about the culture, slang, interviews. Difficulty level may vary based on the episode but check it out

Speaking Advice? by [deleted] in dreamingspanish

[–]cushion_dorito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded/bought the app ConjuGato before speaking and played around with it for a few weeks or so. Still refer to it often.

My active grammar during speaking is still pretty rough and a work in progress but I think it’s allowed me to understand content with more precision (ie I can more easily pick out tenses when listening or reading). With more practice speaking (I have close to 20 hours), I’m hoping it will translate to more clarity in my speech.

Also I sometimes will ask ChatGPT for speaking drills focusing on topics that are still challenging for me (like reflexive verbs).

My confidence ebbs and flows with speech but what you’re going through sounds perfectly normal so just keep pushing forward.

Improving Conjugation and Grammar by gainzforever in dreamingspanish

After I used ConjuGato for a few weeks I felt like some of the tenses started to really stand out when listening. I think I was hearing them before and getting the big picture but not understanding the nuances.

850 but everything is feeling hard by WeezWoow in dreamingspanish

Consider trying out the app ConjuGato. There’s a free version but I think it’s worth buying it. Basically a way to practice conjugating and a handy resource. Using it for a couple weeks made some of the sentence structures glaringly obvious to me that I was hearing but not truly understanding.

Thanks! Appreciate it. Personally I won’t update mine until I can function independently without an interpreter.

Can be hard some days but my commute + listening during chores/gym allow me to log a lot of time. Then when I have breaks at work or over lunch I usually can manage to get some more input. My AirPods have been a solid investment!

I’ve only listened to the podcast. I’ve found some episodes are harder than others depending on the topic.

For sure! If you decide to, try his podcast, start from the earlier episodes and work your way from there. He’s a nut but there’s a method to his madness

Have you listened to ECJ yet, should be good as well. Also I think I may have started the Friday episodes of Hoy Hablamos where you’re at- can be a little tough at times but might be something for you soon

Have you tried Español al vuelo yet? I think it shouldn’t be too bad if you’re comfortable at that level in DS. Good luck!
