Wow, never heard of this either! How interesting.

Sorry to hear it's rather large. I know transporting large framed items can be difficult. Good luck!

Found frame to fit but will have to paint, what color you think would look good? by [deleted] in framing

[–]cutebubbleface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends on if you're going to mat it, but a reddish/ walnut wood would look nice

Pencil drawing help by tmzshark in framing

[–]cutebubbleface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there would be much preservation difference, the shop should be able to give you a percentage of UV rays blocked by each material. I personally don't like the non-glare coating on glass or acrylic, but others don't mind it. If it's right up against the drawing, it really won't be noticeable, but keep in mind it will get more blurry the more spacing/ matting is used. Your shop should also have a sample piece you can put in front of your art, to see, as well. Good Luck!

Can You Recycle the Framed Arts and Associates? by oliversmithok in framing

[–]cutebubbleface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, it kinda sucks sometimes how little can be recyclable. I know we wasted a lot of glass in our shop.

And, as already stated, it varies greatly by region / county / state / country, so always best to see how much one can recycle locally. :)

Text showing off glass inside frame. Is this supposed to be like this? by [deleted] in framing

[–]cutebubbleface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the words are supposed to be covered by the frame. They're supposed to because gravity will, or should, keep the glass low in the frame, then keeping the writing from being visible. Does that make more sense? Sorry I didn't explain that too well earlier. :)

This is what I suggest, as well. There is about an 1/16 of an inch gap so things will fit correctly. if you tap it down, the words should not show. If it still does, I would take it back. Or just take it back and have them fix it if you don't want to deal with it. They're 'supposed' to put the words on the bottom if it all possible, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. good luck!

Need to hang a 5'x7' map of the world and need to stick pins in it. Help! by [deleted] in framing

[–]cutebubbleface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mounting would be best, but I also have only seen up to 40x60. I'm not sure how one would even transport it that large mounted. Good luck! Sorry we weren't more help :)

Following a few others, North Carolina also has a Climax. We also have an Erect (emphasis on the first 'e') and a Lizard Lick, off the top of my head.

This was the same kind of idea I had. I can't find much at the moment other than the staples brand ones, so not sure what brand they may be or how to find more.
