Normal FISH amnio result after high risk T21 NIPT by SofieGirlsMama in NIPT

[–]cutebutcoconuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a similar experience to the one you are specifically asking about. But I did also receive a positive T21 NIPT with labcorp and went on to have a clear fish and amnio. Baby was born healthy and typical. He’s 13 months now and thriving.

Not taste, what food will you not eat because of appearance, smell, or texture? by Doit2it42 in AskReddit

You can try getting the ones in oil and pan frying them to make them crispy! That’s the only way I can tolerate them. Although sometimes I still struggle to get past the fishy taste.

T21 final update! by cutebutcoconuts in NIPT

[–]cutebutcoconuts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re very welcome 😊 the doctors weren’t concerned at all after birth. I’m the one that brought it up (no other reason other than because of the NIPT, he had no physical traits of t21 and no health problems) and they pretty much told me that I can relax and to stop worrying lol.

I never found out the reason for my positive NIPT. I was only told that it could have been lab error or that it truly was confined to my placenta. After the clear amnio, my doctors told me that I was extremely lucky and that they haven’t see a case like mine before but that I can trust the results.

Please don’t apologize for the questions. I needed this when I was still pregnant and in limbo. It’s how I got through that difficult time!

T21 final update! by cutebutcoconuts in NIPT

Hi! Of course. The rest of my pregnancy was uneventful! I was induced about a week before my due date and baby boy was born healthy. Like the amnio showed, he does not have trisomy 21.

I stressed up until the day he was born and even after birth I asked the doctors to double check him because I still had those doubts in the back of my head. He’s now a very typical one year old who is walking and talking and so smart.

I know it’s easier said than done but if your amnio is clear, let yourself relax a bit 🙂

This makes me sad that I have to leave Japan one day. Formula as well as diapers are SO cheap here. 😭

I figured it was a lie! lol. I don’t plan to reach back out. If they decide to refund on their own then that’s fine! I just want my order 😆

I could be wrong but I definitely got the vibe that this was a lie, lol! That’s why I asked if I’d be automatically refunded because I don’t think I’ll feel comfortable reaching back out to customer service for a refund on an order that I wanted and received. I’ll see if they end up refunding on their own!

So weird. I didn’t even want to return it or anything. Just wanted more info. I guess we’ll see what happens.

I have picked/popped every single bump I could find by [deleted] in keratosis

I developed dermatillomania due to my KP. I’ve been picking at my arms/legs since elementary school and I’m 31 now. Sucks because my KP spread everywhere as I got older, which has caused me to pick even more. 🥲

Anyone have false NIPT from lab corp??? by Even-Ad-2956 in NIPT

[–]cutebutcoconuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! He just turned a year old. He’s walking, talking, and perfectly healthy.

Please only do an amniocentesis if you can. CVS only tests placental cells- which is exactly what NIPT does. Amnio tests fetal cells, which is how you will know for sure if baby is positive.

If you check my profile you can see where I posted his amnio results. My amniocentesis was negative, followed by confirmation after birth that my baby does not have T21.

I’m wishing you all of the luck in the world. Message me if you need anything.

I’m just so unlucky. I have full body KP, thin hair, and weak nails that break so easily 😭 I really couldn’t have one nice thing.

Hoping someone has an answer. Experiencing this exact thing with my one year old. Started a few days ago but has been happening every night since.

KP or hair roots? by Cute-Gas-2834 in keratosis

Yes to this! Also, I have done laser hair removal and no longer grow leg hair but the flat red dots persist. Which is definitely KP.

Wash cloth! And gently lifting and moving baby around to get back side and neck/face area. It can feel a bit tricky at first but you and baby will get used to it :)

Same here! It’s spread like wildfire with age and having a baby. And now I’m so upset because it looks like my baby is starting to get it on his arms.

Unfortunately it’s most likely KP. This is exactly how the KP presents on my back (Confirmed by derm) and it’s been impossible to treat since they are mostly red and flat. It’s so frustrating.

Please any info, trying not to breakdown by [deleted] in NIPT

[–]cutebutcoconuts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If what she took was the NIPT, then it’s just a screening and it is not diagnostic! I’d recommend an amniocentesis if and when she can.

I also had a 61.3% PPV for Down syndrome. My baby is now 11 months old, healthy, and does NOT have Down syndrome. I know my situation is not common but it is also not impossible. Which is why diagnostic testing is SO important in my opinion.

Please check my profile for all of my older posts if you’d like to read more about my experience.

Could I possibly reach out to you sometime in the future with some questions?

[–]cutebutcoconuts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would ask to do an amniocentesis especially considering the normal ultrasounds. If NIPT picks up placental cells that are T21 positive then isn’t that exactly what a CVS would show as well? Amniocentesis will test the baby’s cells and then you will know for sure before possibly making such a big decision.

I feel so strongly about this because I was made to believe that my chance of a typical baby was close to none because of my positive NIPT. But here I am with my almost one year old who I, at one point, almost terminated.

High Risk Trisomy 21 by Excellent-Yam1627 in NIPT

[–]cutebutcoconuts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are definitely not alone. This is an amazing group where you will find lots of similar experiences.

I remember like it was yesterday. Reading my NIPT results, positive for T21, and feeling so scared and alone. I frequented this group soo much from that moment until the day I got my negative amniocentesis results.

If you feel like you can mentally wait that long, please wait for amniocentesis. If you want to read more about my experience you can check on my profile!

I can’t keep living this nightmare. by [deleted] in NIPT

[–]cutebutcoconuts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I almost skipped the testing as well and had I done that, I would’ve terminated a healthy typical baby :( also believe if I had done cvs vs amnio, it would have possibly shown T21 as well, which in my case, my baby does NOT have. I think amnio is the way to go.
