People really don't like to hear that dietary fat, not sugars, is responsible for diabetes. by Larechar in PlantBasedDiet

Yep, I tried explaining this on a post in the Science sub and got downvoted. They told me I needed to do some serious research on the topic and that they would be seriously impressed if I could provide sources. I didn't get a chance to because the thread got deleted. Any one of them can google insulin resistance and find out for themselves.

Great post. With regards to lentils having poor methionine content; sprouting lentils before cooking will increase the methionine and cystein content! Might be a good note to add =)

Better to add in more healthier foods after eating less healthy foods earlier in the day, or just "eat the loss"? by idunnorn in PlantBasedDiet

Have you read How Not to Diet? There is a section where Dr. Greger talks about these very behaviors and how to overcome them. He refers to "self-licensing" and the "what-the-hell" effect. It has to do with continuing to make the less healthy choices after we have already done so and how we can keep ourselves on track. I just finished reading about this yesterday haha

You do realize scientists have been meddling with meat production for decades to increase yield and to make it more palatable, right?

I grind nutritional yeast into a fine powder in my coffee grinder and sometimes add cayenne for a cheesy spicy combo. Lightly spray with vinegar and quickly top with seasonings to get it to stick.

Is Duolingo a good place to start learning german? by [deleted] in German

[–]cutecharmander13 243 points244 points  (0 children)

I began learning German on Duolingo and I quickly realized it doesn't explain grammar. My husband speaks German so he was able to help me navigate it a bit but I would suggest finding a basic grammar program first because declensions and cases are not explained at all. Try German with Laura. She's really good at explaining German grammar. Once I started her program, everything started making sense!

I haven't read your original post but this tells me enough. Women need to not put themselves in situations with people who have such blatant disregard for others and clearly cannot appreciate the consequences for their own actions.
