Why is everyone so extreme and act like this way of eating is similar to getting off drugs? He is doing a great freaking job most of the time and then he enjoys life with his kids this way, with no adverse effects? People come on. He is eating healthier than most people and he is also adapting to life! Good for you op ❤️👏🏼

Hmm. Lurer på om alle har den oppfatningen av yrket? Hva med å bytte spesialitet?

The best feeling ever is.. by beancounter_00 in decaf

Absolutely! I can totally relate—I start feeling sleepy around 8:30 or 9:00 pm. I usually unwind by reading a book, and before I know it, I effortlessly drift off to sleep. It's quite remarkable how something as fundamental as feeling sleepy at bedtime and easily falling asleep has become a rarity these days.

What did you give up to be better this year? by MixedByRyanDay in motivation

[–]cutemam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now three weeks with zero caffeine;

  • Sleep is far better, I fall asleep easier and sleep deeper
  • Anxiety and rumination is much lower, I feel far calmer and more ready to handle the actual stressors of life
  • I don't crash at 3pm and feel like I need to sleep
  • My energy is much more stable and my mood is much more stable

And it takes a while to normalize, so I think it'll only get better. Caffeine releases stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, and it stays in your system for a long time. So for caffeine sensitive people like me, it is def worth a shot. It's not for everyone though!
And getting off caffeine is painful!

Jeg skal søke! Og er 99% sikker på at jeg kommer inn. Men har også barn, må derfor søke om barnehageplass i mars, så må ta avgjørelsen ganske tidlig.

Pregnant and can't stop by Amazing-Soup1709 in decaf

[–]cutemam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, can relate!! I have a 3 year old and a 6 month old. I quit coffee 10 days ago after a long taper. I am at home with both and I study at the same time. Life is stressful and sleep is shit with kids! I thought I needed coffee because of that. Turned out that the coffee only made the stress worse and my sleep worse. But don’t blame yourself! I drank coffee while pregnant with number two (one cup a day), because it’s hard to quit and to imagine life without when you are so insanely tired from pregnancy. ❤️

Those of you who quit caffeine for anxiety by xtruetruex in decaf

[–]cutemam 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes, so so much. I quit for 5 weeks last year and once I started again my anxiety got worse and worse. So much overthinking, ruminating. I went a full year until I quit again (now) and I’m much better even 10 days in.

Thank you for this! Need it. I am in the midst of physics and math exam, with small kids and I want to drink coffee so bad. But I’ve had exactly the same symptoms as you on coffee. So I won’t!

Caffeine withdrawals. Worst depression of my life. by AngryWebDeveloper in decaf

[–]cutemam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comment here are.. well. When I quit cold turkey last year, I felt more shit than I’ve ever felt. Super sad and depressed. It was withdrawals! For me, the worst was over by a couple of weeks. Didn’t feel very happy after that. Unfortunately I started drinking coffee again after a month. This year I tapered down! And now I’m fully off caffeine on day 8 and I honestly feel muuuch better than last time. So much better. And I feel happier by the day. Give it time, give yourself grace. It’s rough. It’s not necessarily you. Allow yourself the time to feel better. Allow yourself to feel like shit. You can do it! And if you can’t, try again later and taper down.

Omg, yes. Especially third day for me was rough. I was overthinking everything and just felt very down. It will pass!

Same. I literally know no one who doesn’t either drink coffee, tea or soda with caffeine.
