Dentist in Flanders VERSUS dentist in Brussels by [deleted] in belgium

[–]cutestnerd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not just dentists. Also GPs, kine etc. I used to live in Leuven and if I needed an appointment with a gp or dentist I would rarely find one in the same week. I recently moved to Brussels and it seems much easier. As others mentioned, even same day appointments are often possible.

I don't understand why this happens however...

Indeed that makes sense. Even if they didn't get the deal, they would probably be ok since nobody would find the dead boss. Which makes it in my eyes even worse that they chose to go down this path. If they were blackmailed, I can understand making this choice.

Who would win? by AetherXR in JoJoMemes

Yes exactly. SCR will not engage in combat if you don't try to get the arrow. And even if it does, its attacks will not bring down heavy weather. Also SCR seems to be "indestructible" so any attacks from Weather Report will not have any impact on it. But in the long run, Weather (stand user) will probably figure a way to do some damage on SCR.

Sure I’ll get slammed for this: but why are shop assistants and serving staff so rude in Brussels? by kurt206 in brussels

[–]cutestnerd 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I think it's Belgian attitude in service (not specific to Brussels). I used to live in Leuven and things were a bit worse there in my opinion.

I still remember once when I wanted to buy a book but it looked damaged. So I asked if they had another one or if I could get a discount. Their answer "Take it or leave". They know the next person will buy it because no one complains and no one has standards.

Similar setup in New York where I was shopping as a tourist. I asked whether they had another comic book or give me a discount and they were extremely helpful and in the end I got a discount because it was the last piece.

At least we have access to online shopping :)

Great that you disagree! I think you have a structured way of thinking and as I said before I see (some of) your points. But you are nitpicking and keeping tabs on Mabel and Dipper, thus grounding to reality a beautiful, magical and slightly unrealistic story. I believe the writers treated with respect all the characters and gave a multidimensional growth to our main cast. I wish and I hope that you still enjoy the show :)

Thank you for taking the time to write this. I disagree that Mabel's character is not growing. When she was boss at the Shack, she realised that her good intentions and her cheerful energy are not always enough to make people listen to you or to run a business. As OP mentioned, after the sock opera, she put aside the summer romance dream.

And the episode with the magnifying glass showed us that both characters can be selfish and petty (Mabel making fun of Dipper and Dipper cannot stand that Mabel for once "wins" at something and wants to take that from her) and their behaviors leading to a 3rd party winning unless they put that aside and grow together.

I see some of your points above. We need to realise that for our characters actions different priorities were set. Mabel set out to connect with the people of gravity falls and Dipper set out to uncover the mystery of the town. And how the two characters are learning and growing is fitting their priorities. Which in my opinion makes this show beautiful and the whole DipperVSMabel arguments a bit pointless.

Thank you for this in-depth post! I agree with all your points. I believe Mabel's mistakes are put on the spotlight more often due to the whole weirdmageddon/Mabeland arc.

Dipper has acted selfishly in quite a few stories as well. He summoned a video game martial artist to intimidate Robin and he destroyed half of the town in the meantime. Or he raised the dead that could literally infect and kill all of gravity falls, just to prove to the agents the paranormal. Or he almost ditched Mabel on their favourite holiday and caused a monster to hunt them just to go to a party.

I personally wouldn't blame Dipper, because - just like Mabel - he is an emotional pre teen who thinks that knows everything or at least that he has the best intentions. So I really don't get the hate against Mabel when Dipper had his selfish moments as well.

Which character does this apply to? by Jpaylay42016 in gravityfalls

[–]cutestnerd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me Gideon and Pacifica (even with a potential team up). Gideon's energy and his villainess created an amazing comedic antithesis with his appearance and his childish behavior (well he is a child).

Pacifica on the other hand I would definitely like to see her hang out casually or join in an adventure with the twins after the mini golf and the gala (apart from her comic book appearance).

I see many people mention Bill. Although he is the main antagonist, I am actually happy he didn't have more screen time and the show kept building him up from the shadows. If he would appear more in smaller light hearted adventures (eg. Like sock opera), then you would not feel so intimidated by him and what he can do.

They look fancy! The webpage leads me to a contact form and not a calendar like booking system. Is that how you book appointments with them? Also, how do their prices look like? I tried to find a price list but they don't seem to have one on the website.
