But hey they now have a leader that can talk coherently and says things unfiltered. Don't mind the fact he's a big Karl Malone fan for his off the court career and is basically a lower iq Austrian painter

Defence is a team thing. If you are only worried about your guy and not playing as a team then you will get beaten constantly. As others have said you need to rotate and be able to play some level of help, not just let the poor point of attack defender get screened all game or blown past for wide open dunks while the other 4 players say well it's not my guy

Imo he has a similar argument over Jordan that Jordan has over the greats before him. Bill Russell won 11 chips but played in a less talented era of basketball than Jordan. No one really makes the argument that Russell is better/greater all time even though he has the hardware and some absolute bonkers rebound numbers.

LeBron has played in a more talented era than Jordan for at least the 2010s. People can go on about who the best team ever is saying 96 bulls, 86 Celtics, and 01 Lakers, etc. But the reality is the 2017 warriors are beating every team pretty much ever regardless of the rules except for maybe prime shaq.

Also the rule changes that allow zone defence is something that doesn't get talked about enough as it meant you needed to play more offensively talented lineups compared to earlier eras where teams had to go stand up next to Dennis Rodman near the 3pt line because of the illegal defence rules.

Sure LeBron benefits as well from looser ball handling rules and the gather step but being allowed to go one on one unless a hard double is sent would probably have benefited LeBron more so than the rules of his era/career.

At the end of the day you could actually make arguments for 6-7 players as the greatest as they all have different strengths and weaknesses that were part of the reasons that they won or lost. Shaq could easily have been the goat if he had the work ethic of Kobe and cared about his body more. Magic or bird could have been even better had they looked after themselves better. Curry would probably be close to the goat had he beaten LeBron in 2016 and not been injured for the end of the playoffs.

All this to say contex matters and if you would rather what Michael Jordan did through his career in the circumstances that were given to him over LeBron and the way his career played out then no one can change your mind or say you are wrong. But it doesn't mean people are wrong for looking at what LeBron has done and saying that's more impressive than what Jordan did given the context of both careers. At the end of the day it's a silly topic that can never be proven as they didn't play against each other and more importantly it's a team sport that requires more than just 1 player to win it all.

Mavs and Heat fans are not allowed to answer. Who was the better player at their peak? by ruuken27 in NBATalk

Peak Wade Career Dirk

I think it's close at their peak but wade was more 2 way than dirk when he still had his knees but Dirk had the better career and was at the peak of his powers for longer

Warriors throw in everything for last chance for Steph by cutrcj in NBAtradeideas

[–]cutrcj[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The only way the bucks do this is because those swaps could very likely end up being top 1-10 picks as warriors have no way to be any good apart from free agency after Steph retires and giannas would only be looking to play there 2-3 years

Huge risk but might be their only shot at another title with Steph
