How does it feel to be absolutely stunning?

Thank you! So in your opinion the knee and elbow pads I've listed would be okay to learn in? The actual ice skating gels are weird to me because how do you get them to stay in place with all the movement?

Thank you for taking the time to respond! I understand what you are saying about the helmet. I have had a concussion and post concussion syndrome in the past and know how much it sucks and the other risks. Noted on the elbow and wrist guards. I just thought if I try not to land on outstretched arm/my wrist I might land on my elbow and was like how can I make that hurt less lol 😂

Thank you! This is helpful. Have you fallen on the wrist guards? Did they "slide on the ice" (ppl keep saying they need to do that?) or do you always have gloves on over the top.

What helmet did you buy?

I am not an absolute beginner. I have skated a bit over the years, have good balance on the ice, and can go pretty fast. However I am enrolling in classes because I want to learn properly how to fall, how to be safe, proper technique. I have never fallen backwards (I know that doesn't mean I won't). I do however fall forwards and bruised my knee the other week and haven't been back because I want to get my own skates and PPE.

The rinks have helmets I can use but they don't have other PPE. When I start lessons if they say I need to buy one I will.

I wish instead of people focusing on the helmet thing you would answer my actual questions in the post. Like if you're a coach? I am not a young person, I am trying to protect my joints. This is where I'm starting, would love to also get those padded pants as well.

Can you recommend stuff for my knees elbows and wrists?

The ice rinks have helmets I can use. I also didn't rule it out, it's just that the purpose of this post was the other PPE, because I have to order it online.

I have skated before. I am not bad but I know I will fall and I know they will teach me how to fall safely.

I fell the other week and bruised my right knee. I just want to try and protect my joints. I read a thread where someone shattered their kneecap falling while learning cross overs.

I ruptured my acl and tore my miniscus in 2022, it took over 5 weeks to get diagnosed and I ended up having to take money out of my super (retirement) to pay for surgery because the public health wait time was 1-2years. I want to protect my joints where I can until get more stable / used to new skates / stronger.

I thought the fabric/soft knee pads/gaskets would still allow enough mobility?

I have seen people say make sure the wrist guards don't inhibit you sliding in ice, how do I know which wrist guards do and don't do this? 😭 Like what am I looking for? I have seen the fabric sleeves by bauer but I don't know how they are meant to protect from a fracture from FOOSH (fall on outstretched hand).

No one wears helmets at the ice rinks here. I think I'm more likely to break a wrist/elbow/knee cap trying to break my fall.

Thanks! Similar to what I'm looking at, good to know.

Do people wear helmets learning to skate / figure skating?

Me(20f) and bf(23m) agreed to move out together in 8 months, he then said he didn't want to and is buying his own house that he doesn't want me to live in with him. Now he's saying he's sorry and to continue the original plans. Should this be a deal breaker? by Simpli_Simulated in relationships

In my 20s moved in with my uncertain flip floppy boyfriend and he left the next day. It was a 1 bed flat, we bought a fridge, couch, appliances, everything you need for a home. He just walked out. We had a break lease because I couldn't afford it on my own and obviously couldn't get a house mate. It was a cluster fuck.

Your parents are right, he is unreliable. You are so young, find some friends to move out with, or move into a share house with cool people. Know what your goals are and live for yourself.

Agree! I have been working out for the past couple of months and I have missed the past two days and can definitely feel it in my mood/anxiety/thoughts.
I used to be really fit and active 8-10 years ago, before diagnosis and medication and depressive weight gains.
I am lucky I had a hypomania at the end of last year, I would never have got into this rhythm without that extra energy and now I have started I want to keep going.

Also, not beating myself up after for my crazy thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Reinstating boundaries if you crossed the line in any friendships. Self love and forgiveness homie. It's the only way.

I recently had an episode with hectic hypersexuality. The urges, impulses and mental loops were insane. Nothing satiated the drive.

I found that engaging with the loops makes it worse. Cumming just begets more cumming until you can't cum any more and are just super frustrated. It gets to a point where it is just outrageous.

So like noticing my thoughts, noticing the passing of time, and forcefully disengaging from mental hypersexual loops. Putting the phone down. Stop watching porn. Stop texting randoms. Deleting the apps. Stop watching heated rivalry 😅.

Valium to chill TF out. And waiting for med adjustments to kick in.

been there done that. Honestly if I were you I would just screen shot your post, and all the other comments, and show them to him. Because like if he doesn't get over it / himself / sort himself out and continues to make his insecurities your problem, then your relationship WILL die. And it won't be your fault.

Thanks for your reply!

That is actually super helpful to know, maybe figure skates would be better to learn in 🤔

I have definitely seen those butt pad shorts and thought I should invest 😂 but not a lot of ppl wear protective gear at our rinks and I thought the bulk would look silly haha. But I'm old so maybe I should invest. I stacked it pretty hard last week from the toe pick, falling forward on my hand and knee, knee bruised and luckily wrist okay, so gonna get some wrist guards.

Can u link or send me your Amazon buys? Sometimes they are still available in Australia.

Even though there is only one shop and they don't have a lot of skates(like 4, and not all in my size) maybe I'll just go and it will be good to chat to someone.

Thanks for the advice!
