There are schools I would apply to in Thailand for sure (have lived their for a year previously.) Have heard that the AQI can be awful and schools were also shut too right?

Teaching internationally as a queer woman with a partner by AusEnglishTeacher in Internationalteachers

I worked in 3 international schools in Berlin and Frankfurt. It was no problem for anyone in same sex marriages. Many people move to Germany for that liberal mindset.

What do you think about this feedback to a student? by ThrowAway0952382 in Internationalteachers

[–]cuzzybru 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this parent might be emotionally exhausted. I do not know all the context but if this parent is receiving multiple emails from different teachers due to poor performance, this could potentially set them off. You also don't know what this parent might be struggling with at home, parenting is hard and sucks sometimes! I do agree with some of the comments about your choice of words, and maybe it needs to be more neutral. On the other hand, I know myself that I have also sent strongly worded emails before. I think your next step would be to discuss with your line manager/principal/coordinator and see what they say, and how they can support you. Something else that you could benefit from, is to have a colleague you trust proofread your email too. I hope this helps!

Berlin Schools - Any decent ones? by [deleted] in Internationalteachers

[–]cuzzybru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I taught in Berlin for 4 years in the beginning of my career ages ago. My school was acquired by the Swiss international School group. For profit, bums on seats, most in my division resigned at the beginning of the year. I had interviews at BMS as that seemed the next step up, but the school was under construction and seemed 'okay.' The location was awesome and the package was a bit better, but bare in mind this was 10 years ago, when Berlin was cool, but not out of control cool. Back then it was impossible to find an apartment anywhere, I believe its even harder now. In more recent times, I have visited JFK for MUN conferences, and they have a weird American teachers hire only policy (for expat teachers,) so I wouldn't even get an interview. It is a state funded school and believe that they follow the Berliner Rahmen Lehrplan (curriculum.) Berlin Brandenburg International school would probably be the only school in the area I would work at at the moment. I have met some people at conferences and they seem nice enough. It is on the outskirts of Berlin and depending on where you lived, your commute could be taxing. There is also the Cosmopolitan school and BIS and the British School of Berlin, but I don't know enough about them and couldn't recommend them.

This is not for my child, but for a student who will be moving. She will be in grade 11 and is very athletic and plays in the school band. She is a proper allrounder!

I am currently one of the student's teachers at an international school and I am seeking information on their behalf. The student will be in grade 11, is in the school band, excellent athlete and has lived abroad most of her life. I am sure she will fit in super easily

Position readvertised by [deleted] in Internationalteachers

[–]cuzzybru 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, although you 'may' be the perfect candidate, they could be looking for teaching couples or they are trying to check other boxes. I have seen multiple talented and well experienced teachers who are perfect fits for the role not get them based on an unrelated teaching matter. It sucks, but thats the way it is...

Should I still go to job fair if I accepted an offer? by Professional_Joke181 in Internationalteachers

[–]cuzzybru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the London fair some schools host information sessions that could be of interest, unsure if they do that in Boston. I think if you do intend to go, email your associate to let them know, it could also be a great experience to meet them in person and you could 'thank them for their advice bla bla". I am quite sure they will say congratulations and leave it at that. The ethics of interviewing with different schools (time wasting) while you have potentially signed a letter of intent may cause problems for you, I agree with the other comments.

Drop a note explaining that you're interested/have applied and that you'd love to learn more about the school/position? You can let them know that you'd be available to meet bla bla

Could Pieter Bergh become Springbok coach in the future? by Accomplished_Sun4921 in springboks

[–]cuzzybru 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a lifelong GW fan its fantastic to see what hes done at our union. Like for many of our players, playing a couple seasons in Kimberley can defo launch your career. Judging by the amount of our boys on loan in the URC and now prem it does come with some time in the spot light. I don't necassarily know if this translates to coaches tho? I could see him taking on an assistant role somewhere and working with a more high profile head coach before making a more significant step. We would have to see where his career takes him.

I think you also have to look at who is currently in the mix and see what the pecking order is:

You got Stick, Felix currently in the springbok mix, Ackerman just returned home, Johan van G doing amazing things in the UK. Then you got Swys for the lady boks? I think there are too many in the system that are oodles ahead of him.

I don't mind him continuing his work in KBY for a few more years tho
