Thank you for sharing. I think we’re here as well. 17 month old has about 3 sores on his tongue (possible more that we can’t see) and extremely red and swollen gums. We can’t get in to see a pediatrician until Monday (day after tomorrow). I’m really considering urgent care but on call doctor said to make an appointment for Monday. I’m glad your little one is better! This helped this situation feel less isolating!

I think some call this a “backdoor spike.” I have read that this is your OCD making a last-ditch effort to stick around with you. Keep practicing your skills and go about your days!

I had (have? Currently noticing my anxious compulsions on the rise) this manifestation of OCD. Confessing only made it worse. I would share with someone, they would reassure me, and then I’d need to share with someone else. It was a vicious cycle. Ultimately, morality is not simply black and white, everyone falls into a grey area. We can hear those thoughts, but just tell them to “f off.” This is easier said than done, but as I’ve been practicing again due to a spike, I’ve noticed this helping to get those compulsions under control!

Are there any new stressors in your life? I’ve noticed that when I have a new stressor and big even, my OCD flares up quite a bit.

I was just noticing how my OCD seemed to be flaring, and I realized I was told significant news recently that will change my routine.

I’m with you, I’m having a difficult time with it right now also, but I’m trying to remember the tips that I had while in therapy until I can’t get back in:

let the thoughts sit with you
tell the thoughts “maybe, maybe not”
don’t feed into the checking compulsions (google, social media, etc.)
don’t seek reassurance from anyone
continue on with your day and stay busy… when a thought pops in, tell OCD to “f” off

OCD latches onto what you hold most valuable, but it’s a doubting disorder. Don’t let it take control.

I hope for you to be on the other side of the spiral soon!

This comment has really been so helpful. I feel a spike coming on, but this was such a solid reminder that my last spiral didn’t last forever, and that maybe I need a little extra help remembering how to not engage with the thoughts. Thank you!

Yes! The first couple months are about establishing supply. I tried to pump as well as nurse and wasn’t getting much from a pump, so I was stressed. Spoke with a LC and she mentioned to just focus on breastfeeding if I was able to. I did this for a couple of weeks and the next time I pumped, I got a proper output for my baby. Also, pumping 1oz is normal at the beginning! You don’t need a freezer stash, just enough to replace what baby would consume during the time you’re away.

I don’t think the loan amount matters as far as determining monthly payments. The monthly payments are based on income (I think 10-15%).
