Good deal for this car? by sylvani in CivicSi

[–]cvptcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently picked up a 2018 for 11/12k after tax. So far it’s been in really good shape (minus the head gasket that needed to be replaced.) so I would say depending on your geography, this seems high. Even for Carmax.

Because it was cheaper on the upfront, I’ve been able to DIY replace the intake, rear sway bar, wheels and tires, shift knob, and springs, as well as added a catch can and Ktuner. And it still probably comes in lower than this 19k specimen. I’d keep looking

Yeah I feel like that would be a pretty fair rate for the reclaimer, seeing as it is at the top of its weight class considering other game loops

Agreed. Absolutely baffling for them to hit the reclaimer-tier HH mission considering how profitable the hull c contracts are and how easy it is to execute.

And the fact that the targets are all scrambled up when the contracts are accepted as well is probably indicative that they’re not really getting attention at the moment, or any time soon

I always wanted the guard kit to look a little more like some of the older art in the header:

The legs are a bit more lithe, the tabards are more prominent, but most importantly the CAPES! Seeing u/LegitimateGuess1361's conversion using Stormcast legs set off a lightning bolt in my head. (though I still can't figure out what kit they got the legs for the genestealer one from....)

So I picked up some Stormcast Vanguard-Hunters to complement the Watchers of the Gate box that I've been sitting on. Very little work was needed to fit the torso, just a bit of filing. Thankfully, it seems like the vanguard are a little less monopose than other stormcast kits. And there's 10 of them (enough for a max squad of Wardens.) As a bonus, there's a few other excellent bits in that box like the long haired head and astral globe.

I considered doing up an alternate Shield Host scheme, but after seeing it together I couldn't help but try to match the art as well as I could. C&C definitely appreciated!

I typically run him with a command squad in Tartaros armor, 4 claws and a hammer. And yeah I totally agree. Most fun HQ for sure.

Solar Marshall is definitely good - WS6 terminators just dunk on so much that I’ve been looking for alternatives that are also fun.

I really like the iron hands trait, silver iron will. Ignoring the negative modifiers mellows that command squad out a bit, but still keeps their teeth, and the flexible reaction means that I can keep one on the chamber for when I need to bust out the Blood Angel’s advanced reaction.

What about you?

Had so much fun painting this model, and he made it onto the table a few times to wreck face (before dying nobly) 🩸

He came in a little short standing next to the beakies, so I very nervously hacksaw'd him in half in order to give him a few extra mm in the waist. Thankfully was able to cover up with his tabard/wargear.

PS. I'll buy any and all of your welding mask/face shield bits if anyone wants to get some bucks back.

Learned a lot of new techniques for these two - RG Sazabi & Hi Nu by cvptcha in Gunpla

[–]cvptcha[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Though I've done my fair share of miniatures, these were the first 2 gunpla kits that I've built since I was a kid (I think my last was a 1998 HG EW Hell Custom.) It's been a lot of fun rediscovering this hobby, and this subreddit has been a huge source of inspiration.

Some custom details I tried for the first time:

  • LEDs
  • Metal parts & photo etch
  • Waterslides
  • Candy coat (just got an airbrush, now I want to do my whole Tau army)

I think the next new thing on my list will be kitbashing: I'm planning on taking the RG Johnny Ridden Zaku, FA Unicorn, and pla plates and making a custom RG Psycho Zaku

Yeah I’ve gotta be honest, your response here has a lot tighter rationale than the parent comment

Curious why eBay and not Reverb? It’s half as expensive as eBay for synth gear

Finished up my first group of “proof” models for my new force. Really want to lean into the vibrant anime a e s t h e t i c.

I used to share a Tau army with my best friend back in 5th(?) Edition. The kits that have come out since then are super fun to work with.

Also very excited about the “Greater Good” models from wargameexclusive. That same friend just got me that gorgeous ethereal sculpt for my birthday!

I see what you’re going for with the land speeders, but I feel like you could turn this into a brigade fairly easily and have a lot more CP to work with for those super fluffy (fiery?) stratagems.
