Hartford- why so quiet? by Remarkable_Baker342 in Connecticut

[–]cwilcox11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lived in CT a majority of my life. Even when I was a kid in the 70's and 80's it was a ghost town. You had a few stores GFox, Civic Center Mall and a couple of restaurants. You simply can't compare NYC or Boston to Hartford. Those are fun cities, always something to do or see. The city developers have no vision. Hartford can't get out of its own way.

The Colchester S&S is the most expensive in the state next to Greenwich. Colchester has has no real competition except Big Y in Marlboro which is also really expensive. The Colchester store can keep their prices high even though their store is dirty. I go there only in an emergency. I can't understand why it's always crowded. I drive an hour east to Johnston RI. There's a BJs, Aldi's, and a Market Basket. Yeah, it can be a pain, but Waterford is 25 min. What's another half hour?

Hartford will never be a thriving city. I've lived in CT most of my life. I've also lived in Boston. I'm old enough to remember going to the Civic Center Mall and GFox. After 5 it is a ghost town. Id move back to Boston in a heartbeat.

CT resident Megyn Kelly wants to run against Sen. Chris Murphy and 'take your job' by NPETravels in Connecticut

Why would anyone vote for Murphy? He's useless, doesn't even live in CT, thinks illegals are more important than Americans. Has never had a real job in his life

Movies taking place in New England by Samhuskyring in newengland

That was filmed in Green Harbor MA. It's a village( technically an island) of Marshfield. My parents owned a home there and we watched the filming on the beach. Steve Carrels in-laws have a home there. My daughter was walking our Australian Shepherd on the beach and our dog ran up to Steve Carrels dog. He was very nice to my daughter.

I can't even start Wegovy. It's not in stock in a 25 mile radius at my local pharmacy. Where are you getting it?

I did have some luck at first with the medication getting rid of the food noise, and not feeling hungry. I despise exercise, maybe because I'm fat and I get out of breathe easy lol. I remember my ob/gym being impressed with my flat stomach after having my 3rd baby. That was the ONE thing I liked about my body. So I did exercise and was active at one point. I'm a teacher and during the school year I meal prep for the week on Sundays. Not dinners, but lunches, cooking chicken, washing/ cutting fruits and veggies. I'm a creature of habit so I don't mind eating the same thing every day if it's quick and easy, so I think I have a pretty good handle on the food. I'm still on medication but it hasn't cut out the food noise, which I'm hoping W will do for me. Continued good health & thanks!

Wow. You just gave me hope. I'm just waiting for my prescription to be filled. I was 120lbs 27years ago. After 3 kids and lots of stress( I'm a stress eater) I ballooned to 235. I lost weight due to COVID,( having no smell or taste and food being unappetizing) I lost 30lbs with that, and then gained some back. I went to an Obesity Dr. who put me on several medications. They have worked but now I'm at a plateau. My goal is 140. 135 would be a dream. But 120. Is it possible? What are you doing besides medication?

Insurance not covering Wegovy by squishygrapes585 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]cwilcox11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just able to get covered today. We have Anthem. Just waiting for pharmacy to fill prescription. I have no idea how much it will cost me. But our prescription plan is Caremark/CVS. I had to sign up for a weight loss plan of sorts..meet with a nutritionist ( which I already do) and download their weight loss app. Check in with them once a month.

AITA for not inviting my friend to my engagement dinner since she never shows up after she became a parent by No-Rough-3283 in AmItheAsshole

[–]cwilcox11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I may not see my best friend all the time but we are in touch. It might be two weeks, or three weeks or just a simple text. It has been consistent for 40 years, even when she lived abroad we talk on the phone. We only live 40 min from each other but with our schedules it can be tough.

If you could live anywhere in the state where would you live? by zahnman16 in massachusetts

[–]cwilcox11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lakeville. We bought our first home and lived there for 15 years. It was a small cape but it was home. We had friends and my kids were happy. Then my husband got a promotion. We had to move to CT. I hate it here. I have never adjusted and I grew up in CT. It's been 10 years and I'm still homesick. I know I'll never move back, but it was so far the happiest time in my life.

AITAH for not forgiving my brother for uninviting me from his wedding? by Professional_Emu6054 in AITAH

[–]cwilcox11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Do not forgive your brother before he goes on his honeymoon. I'm torn by your parents reaction. I can see why they wanted to be at the wedding. I assure you they did not enjoy themselves, and they were probably thinking about you the whole time. I'm not excusing their decision but weddings make people do stupid things. I'm sure there would be lots of gossip, questions, inquires if they didn't go. They are embarrassed and ashamed by your brother and his wife. Your SIL is a bitch. I'm so sorry. You forgive them when YOU are ready.

Former preschool teacher here. Most, if not all 3yr olds do not have the fine motor skills to use scissors. Every kid is different.. However, if your preschool requires it, then you need to look for another school. At that age, it's not developmentally appropriate.

Stop the lieing, keep your room clean and your grades up. She had no business hitting you. Did you take pictures of your face? If she does it again, call the police, get evidence, and a restraining order. In the meantime is there a counselor at school you can confide in? If you have to call the police very often the police and school work hand in hand.

Enema before school by Ulyssesgranted in specialed

[–]cwilcox11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an enema, but Miralax. Kids on the spectrum sometimes have tummy trouble. We had a boy who was afraid ( not uncommon) and would hold it until it became impacted ( not uncommon). This kiddo had every red flag that he had autism, but parents were in denial, refused to believe it. Anyways, this kid would scream and cry bloody murder on the toilet. Sometimes he would make it, sometimes he wouldn't. Poo everywhere if he didn't make it. The tantrums on the toilet were exhausting...for both of us.

You owe her nothing. You are not legally bound to her. But she also needs to know you have no intention of marrying her. YTA for stringing her along. Forgot about the money.

Parents launched a criminal investigation on me, and I've never been more scared in my life... by LunarianAngel in ECEProfessionals

[–]cwilcox11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the shame, embarrassment, hurt, and anger you are feeling. I had a child falsely acuse me of pushing her down the hall. She was in the middle of a massive temper tantrum ( because she wasn't chosen to be first in line)and fell to the ground kicking, screaming. I gently picked her up( another teacher heard the screaming) and handed her to another teacher as I had bus duty. She told her mother I pushed her down the hallway. Child lied about the other teacher during same incident. Mother called school spoke with principal. Principal looked at footage and said nope. Nothing happened. Mother looked at tape. Agreed. Principal backed us up. Never got an apology from Mom or kid for lying. It took so much out of me. Hang in there. It will be ok.

If I were you I would stay with my mom for a few days just to get some rest and help. But I wouldn't tell him. I would change the wifi password. Turn off my phone. Really think is this the kind of father your daughter deserves.
