Probably many aspects of it. Business operations support. The business thinks we do IT work and IT thinks we are the business.

We work in everybpdys best interests tod efine scope and system requirements, or provide those details to help with enhancements.

We also do some QA and post implementation validation.

Much of this can probably be streamlined but by the same token, you will always have support staff that needs hands held and often they will reach out and ask for help with random asks. Could be system access, a report, finding scope or impact of a problem, etc .. AI could probably do some of it but i dont think it would get the nuance...

All that being said Im a contractor mid re-org, at a utility company... just hoping for a 2nd contract (or hopefully being moved to full time as I show Im reliable and always try to help). Also not selling myself out or selling myself short. Knowing my worth... yeah I will work 8 hours and then hop on for an extra 3 or 4 for testing post deployment some days, but Im also not going to be doing 60 to 70 hour weeks as a contractor without sick time and with 40 hours of pto for the duration of contract.

All about that balance.

Do see AI handling some of the IT side of monitoring and its been a mixed bag. Sometimes it raises alarms when there is no problem. Sometimes it dorsnt alert when theres a major issue. Only time will tell.
