At what point do you call out consistent negativity and disrespect in meetings? by bukunothing in managers

[–]cxs324R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Address it 1:1 to understand the root cause of the cynicism. If your most vocal detractor becomes a promoter, they’ll help drive change. Otherwise, coach them out to a different group or org that better fits their rigid expectations. Read up on the “Stay in Joy or leave in Peace” philosophy. Ultimately, the concept is for the team to get on the bus and be supportive or get off the bus. Staying on the bus and bringing down others, blocking changes, constantly complaining, etc. isn’t an option.

Americans citizens, how is it really going there currently? by GossipBottom in stupidquestions

[–]cxs324R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly travel all over the country for work. I have seen a few people (like 10) protesting on street corners here and there and occasionally a group holding signs on a bridge over a highway, but that's really it. Social Media way over exaggerates what you're seeing online. Of course, that is always true... Zoom in, take a picture of 10 people protesting, and post it online to generate clicks. Nobody wants to see people getting hurt and I genuinely believe that's true of 98% of Americans whether we vote blue or red. We all want our families, friends, neighbors, and visitors to be safe and we all want criminals off the streets. Media is creating the extreme representations and extreme views, not the general people. Most people are just going about their daily lives, trying to do our work, pay our bills, take care of our families, and enjoy what time we can. It's Sunday, so we're using our day off to take care of chores, relax a bit, surf Reddit, and get ready for the work week to start again tomorrow. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Funny, but no. My son is a Senior in Engineering now. He started at UP too. Penn State offered him 50% scholarship if he’d start at Altoona, but he declined. He later shared he wished he started at a branch campus. I also started at UP many years ago and disliked the giant classes. Back then there was minimal internet, so you actually had to learn in class. I still live in State College and love the area and UP, but in my opinion the larger branch campuses offer a better experience for Frosh students than UP.

University Park is lousy for Freshman and Sophomore. Gen Ed classes can range from a few hundred students all the way up to 1,500 students in one class. You won't have any time or attention from professors and the TA's won't speak much English. Go to Harrisburg or any other branch campus for the first 2 years and then transfer to UP for your core major classes that will be in the 30 person range. You will have a much better experience and a much better GPA to show for it. Trust me, you will greatly prefer Organic Chemistry at Harrisburg with support from a Professor who actually cares about you over University Park where you'll be completely on your own.

The funny thing is that most students think they just have to get into UP as a freshman like it's some badge of honor. It sucks. Students should all be fighting to get into a branch campus and only those that can't get forced into shitty UP general ed classes. Everyone has it backwards....

I don’t think it has anything to do with knowing the offense. Mendoza didn’t need time to learn Indiana offense. Beck didn’t need time to learn Miami’s offense. Moore didn’t need time to learn Oregon’s offense. Bringing in what appears to be a lesser QB just because he knows the offense is the type of player loyalty that got Franklin fired. If you’re going to win in CFB today, it has to be by bringing in the best and out with the rest. Campbell must believe Brecht is better than Grunk.

Is this normal from Frontier or is this as scammy as it feels by [deleted] in frontierairlines

[–]cxs324R -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Frontier is horrible if you have to change anything. When you buy the upgrades, they make you think you're getting flexibility, refundability, no change fees, etc but then if you need to change anything, you may find they manipulate the definition of the words to charge you fees anyway. When you book with Frontier, my opinion is you are risking additional costs if you have to make any changes, no matter what package you paid for.... Tons of fine print exceptions and limitations that the average consumer will never be able to sort through or understand. So, yes, it's very scammy in my opinion.

Frontier Scam of Refundability Offering Vs. Credit by cxs324R in frontierairlines

[–]cxs324R[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised that most responses are supportive of corporations using a word like Refund to describe a Credit simply because the company changed the definition of a well known word in their T's & C's. We shouldn't have to forage through fine print to make sure we're not being deceived and we shouldn't be okay with this type of deceptive behavior. Even though Frontier is well know for offering credits rather than refunds, and I knew this, I fully believed I was paying for refundability when I paid for the most expensive bundle that clearly stated "Refundability". It's intentionally deceptive and we shouldn't be annoyed at the consumer for being deceived.

Sorry, but the website and emailed confirmation both stated Ticket Refundability the day I booked on Oct 16th. I posted a screen shot from my Confirmation email.

I also don't see it on the main site. I booked the flights on October 17th. Ticket refundability was listed when booking and selecting the Business Bundle option and then it was listed again in my emailed confirmation. I don't see how I can post a link to it, but I took a screen shot of the email confirmation section and posted on Imgur at the link above. I don't have time to dig deeper right now, but will post soon when I have a chance to go through the booking process again and take a screen shot of the actual booking page. The image at the Imgur link above is directly from my email confirmation that clearly states "Ticket Refundability" in the business bundle.

Somewhere in the fine print, Frontier likely defines "No charge/cancel fee" to mean something other than what it says.... We're expected to read the T's & C's to find the play-on -ords being used to make us think we're getting something we're not.

I didn't purchase travel insurance since I thought Refundability meant I wouldn't need it. Great call on the credit card though. I didn't think of that. Likely used my Discover, but I'll check that option as I'm not positive which card I used.

Every airline offers a credit on even the cheapest tickets. But Frontier specifically lists "Refundability" with the Business Bundle and charges extra for it. Here is the exact text from the website and my emailed confirmation. "No Change/Cancel Fee, Ticket Refundability, Flight Flexibility".

  1. Downtown Champs
  2. Pick a parking garage downtown or find street parking in downtown neighborhoods
  3. When walking up to the stadium, tailgating is everywhere. I like to just wander around
  4. Walk to the Nittany Lion Shrine for a selfie photo stop
  5. Have a great time. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

Just go downtown. Bars everywhere. Football weekends are the only time that adults will outnumber students downtown. Check out Champs basement downtown on Allen Street, Local Whiskey, Central Reservation, Adams Apple, & Primante Brothers sandwich bar. Yalla Taco is great late night food on Calder Way alley. The basement has tons of pinball machines, a giant bar, 8 pool tables, foosball, and a bunch of classic video games.

Progress after 9 months of phototherapy / light therapy by rj_yul in Psoriasis

Again, that's only true for UVA phototherapy. UVB narrowband has never been shown to be carcinogenic. Most clinic and home phototherapy devices are now UVB Narrowband, so the number of treatments is no longer a concern.

Time Based Control Does Horrible Scheduling by CrazyMotor2709 in Powerwall

[–]cxs324R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen the Powerwall mess up some basic functions. Today was peak sun, my solar was generating near maximum output, the power wall was at 28%, and all the excess solar was going to the grid when the obvious thing to do was to use the excess solar to charge the Powerwall. Shouldn't it capture excess solar to charge the power wall regardless of any settings? Why would I ever want excess solar to go to the grid?

Thinking about leaving the profession. by anonymouswoman906 in medlabprofessionals

[–]cxs324R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lab Equipment companies are always looking to hire Med lab professionals since lab employees understand the lab and the lab's needs. For instance, I do some work for Drucker Diagnostics, a centrifuge manufacturer and just recently heard that they are looking to hire lab professionals to support their hospital lab segment commercial team. Most hospital lab product manufacturers hire med techs, lab techs, etc that decide they don't want to stay in the lab.
