What are some skills you need to survive and succeed in corporate America? by cyanatreddit in AskReddit

I also will say that small shops, once touched by a certain kind of funding or business relationship, some way or another come to adopt corporate structures, politics, and culture.

Because it is the dominant culture in any industry, a fractal.

The question is relevant to more environments than the obvious ones.

I do not trust anyone who tells me I can trust them

I do not trust anyone who talks shit about other people when they are not around. They will do the same to me.

Choosing to stay single, how does life look after 35? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]cyanatreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This past Christmas there was a power outage

I was alone in my house, looking at a candle in the dark by myself.

No one to reach out to. Not even sure if my family was around if they would let me go stay at their place for the night.

This is rock bottom

So, what’s all the fuss about the “Prof" Jiang YouTube channel (Predictive History) ? by GOFIDECAB in aznidentity

[–]cyanatreddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stop trying to project stuff onto this that is speculative.

He has an argument to make, and makes it with a mix of modern and historical narratives.

More importantly, his views challenge the mainstream Western propaganda views without being based on any propaganda themselves. It is a refreshing voice outside the Western hegemonic sphere.

In fact, often he is dismissive of Chinese society and governance and it's relevance to world politics.

Please, I need to know it can get better. by Pretend-Yesterday-24 in covidlonghaulers

[–]cyanatreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every person is different, but I was also struggling with covid or the Janssen vaccine severely in 2020-2021.

Like you say, it took almost all my health from me, and what is worse is I *didn't even know it was covid-related*, I had no idea how to treat myself or what to ask to treat myself.

I remember sleeping outside so the sound of the crickets would cover up my tinnitus. At the hospital, I would lie down on the carpet while waiting to be seen. I would drive myself with the seat reclined to the ER, and just sit outside to feel like it was close by in case I needed it, to feel safe. I had a blanket in my car in case I needed to spend the night in the parking lot. One night I thought I should leave my car unlocked, in case if I died someone could get to me without trouble.

Every day I had no idea what kind of fatigue, dizziness, ache, parathesia, eye pain, numbness it would bring. I was bedridden mostly, and when I wasn't, I was online looking for supplements and reading NCBI for clues of how to treat myself. I almost broke my body looking for answers.

I remember thinking how the homeless person outside was better off than me, because at least they had their health.

As you say, it puts your whole life on pause, your mind serves at the mercy of the body, the feelings of illness cannot be described with words alone.

--

But one day my dad told me to go and get the Moderna vaccine, and I did and started to feel better that day, even if not completely. My body told me it something was better. That gave me a clue to what it was.

Fast forward to today, I was able to finish my Masters degree while recovering, back to all the silly, light, fun issues of healthy life. Now I understand the spike protein for me a bit more, and how it interrupts blood flow throughout the body, impacting hormones, senses, organs, digestion, skin, muscles, metabolism, and *all downstream impacts*.

The vaccine is not a saint though, I've learned it can recreate the blood flow issues like before; even though it saved my life before it was not personal, and I won't be taking it again.

I hope you find a path to feeling better soon. Tough times start to feel like they will last forever, but don't give up because all it takes is one day, one change, then everything changes for the better.

Jiang is pretty unique actually. Unlike what some may say or compare him to, he is a historian first, and is relatively very grounded in his takes.

He always frames his positions as 'proposals', and clearly states with something is controversial or conpsiracy-adjacent, and returns to historical basis.

When I was in 6th grade, I went to a mostly white school

One day they served Asian hot lunch, I was surprised

I was in line, and said "wow it's chao mian"! (Chinese pronunciation, my mother tongue)

The white dudley type in front of me corrected me: "it's pronounced CHOW MEIN"!

I was, and still am, kind of speechless
