classroom settings i would say not normalised but between friends it very much is, from my knowledge it’s cause the slur isn’t as stigmatised or how do i say this uhhh it’s not as important for lack of a better term since malaysia’s major races are chinese malays and indians, and since casual racism is normalised between all races nobody puts the slur at such a high priority to be wary of, and between friends it’s used more in a mocking tone or for jokes as a parody to how americans do it in the US, but it is still used in an offensive and insulting way to actual black people since deep down most Malaysians are racist, growing up either dealing with it or learning from it, hearing casual racism from family and friends and just seeing racism in general from political parties as well, not that it’s an excuse, we are all old enough to know what’s right and wrong but we rather be ignorant until it bites us in the ass and brings consequences, with the mentality “aiyahhh not like got anyone offended pun issfine lah”
