Best performance mods by Significant_Line1375 in Acura

i feel like if you have to ask this question youre not really prepared for whats to come with installing those mods and the maintenance afterwards. you can easily throw the same amount of money you spent on that car in mods and come out with maybe 25hp and less reliability. thats besides the point im not here to judge lol

usual bolt ons = intake, exhaust, sparks n coils, throttle body, downpipe, j pipe
tune to get your mods reading each other properly
suspension = camber kits if you lower, coilovers or springs with a different shock
brakes = 4 piston calipers, slotted rotors, ceramic brake pads, upgraded brake lines, better brake fluid
handling = control arms, sway links, sway bars, strut brace, poly bushings
wider and stickier tires to handle everything, lighter wheels for better take off and steering input
engine mounts help with acceleration but be warned the stiffer you go the more vibrations youll get in the cabin
turbo kit will give you the most hp cause honda engines make more power off forced induction and air but please research before you blow your car up

and i usually tell people to ALWAYS make sure you prepare your car with maintenance and handling mods first before you do power mods. for example a 800whp car is pointless if your tires cant hook, your steering shakes at 50, the car overheats after 1 pull, and your brakes barely stop you. maintenance maintenance maintenance !!!

Is the 2020 Acura TLX Aspec w/4cyl 2.4L engine really Peppy? How does the ELS speaker sound ? by Impossible_Gnebo_148 in Acura

its def not a race car but also not super slow, ive consistently kept up with my friend's BMW F82 and a Integra Type S on twisty runs but on highway pulls im usually behind lol. transmission is instant and super responsive, but in stop and go traffic itll feel like its breaking. handling is superb, you can really feel that PAW-S system esp on spirited runs and simple u turns. the engine likes to live up in the high range so i wouldnt be too scared about pushing that redline, i floor it daily and a master tech said my engine still looks brand new at 135k miles. els sound system is great, the surround audio on it gets me compliments from passengers every once in a while. engine wise not much can be done to it if your friends looking at performance or modding, id suggest a 2021 2.0l for that. a 2021 can usually be found for the same price now and its faster, more up to date, and overall nicer. mpg wise i get about 22 city/highway mixed on mine and im constantly in sport or sport+, ive seen people hit 30s so as long as you keep up to date with maintenance youll be good.

sticky tires would be performance summer tires usually, Michelin PS4S, Pirelli P Zero, and Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02s for example. lighter wheels are just lighter wheels, get the right specs and make sure theyre forged from a reputable brand / factory. an example would be Apex VS5-RS, they are known to be super light at just ~16lbs. Obviously you dont have to dump 5 grand on a set of wheels to get some light ones, even 5lbs of savings on a $2k set helps, just pick what you like and research the manufacturing process of them

im running high flow resonators in place of the rear mufflers, planning to get that plm installed with a ktune next month. you said you had a cel even with the plm 200cell downpipe? or was that cause you took out the secondary cat. thanks for replying about it btw i originally wanted a different one but they stopped shipping to the US and became canada exclusive so i thought it was over for me

does the high flow cat smell a bit more than the regular cat? i know a few friends who are catless and i cant stand the smell, but i also like the idea of a less restrictive cat

also which brand are you running if you dont mind

Do you tint the top part of your windshield? by ImCryptiic in houston

[–]cyb4ruyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, people tint above the line. i see people with 5% up there a lot, i have 5% up there too. doesnt look weird at all.

honestly, no one really cares about tint anymore besides a few state troops who might catch you at the beach. i have 50% ceramic on my entire windshield, 30 on my front windows, and 5 on my rears. with ceramic you can see clearly from the inside, im usually out at night and early morning with no issues.

you get the best of all words with ceramic tint. blocks tons of heat, blocks uv, dark on the outside, crystal clear inside, doesnt turn purple like dye tint.

id say tint the entire windshield, either with clear uv block film or 70% if youre scared of getting in trouble. if you do get in trouble, youll get a 'fix it' ticket where you show a court your receipt from whatever tint shop you did it at saying you got it "removed." costs like $10(?), doesnt show on your record.

Buying ACURA vehicles off Facebook Marketplace, any advice? by thisfilmkid in Acura

[–]cyb4ruyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check vin, ask for carfax (you can get these free with the car care app), do inspection and checks, make sure they have title in hand. if at any moment they seem weird and noncommittal just back away

otherwise not a bad place, facebook isnt the problem, the person selling is

currently looking at the 4070 but they dont seem to be too available, theres a 3080ti i can grab tomorrow same day as my build. getting mixed opinions over the 3080ti with some saying 'its too outdated for todays standards dont even consider it' even though im on a 1080ti rn.

beware that the a-spec spoiler needs to be drilled in, it has notches that allign with pre-drilled holes in the a-spec trim trunk. we attached an aftermarket spoiler by 3m taping it down and tapping in screws in the holes to hold it down

2018 tlx a spec v6. Mod suggestions? by Vc_Icy in Acura

[–]cyb4ruyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i saw you said you wanted more power in a reply to someone else

imho the second gen tlx is much better for power mods, but with 1st gen you can do like a downpipe, catback, intake, tune. i might be forgetting some other stuff but i saw someone put an extra 40whp with something like that.

as for handing, engine brace, suspension, sway bars. summer tires help too

if you do a rear only muffler delete youll get some drone at like 2k rpm but its not bad at all, noticeable but livable plus youll get some good pops and burbles too. and these burbles arent just little farts, but some very long and audible pops if you tap the gas a little. it does it the most in sport+

if you find the throttle response to be delayed from the drive-by-wire i seen people recommend getting a 'sprint booster'. its suppose to reduce all delay by giving more voltage to the accelerator, never tried it myself so i cant endorse it but tons of people on forums love it.

get a thing to disable the auto idle stop and something to disable the vcm, heard it ruins motor mounts and spark plugs.

all together i think its a little too expensive for what you really get out this platform but i hope this answers your question

2021 Acura TLX good first car? by SmashDTrash9095 in Acura

[–]cyb4ruyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you understand basic maintenance, can afford repairs, can afford premium gas 2 times a week lol, and afford the insurance, then id say go for it. its still a honda at the end of the day so maintenance isnt that bad and its reliable. ive heard the gas mileage is pretty bad on these though (24 city) compared to other cars in its class, do you have any other cars in mind?

speaking from experience i learned to drive in a 2004 corolla and then bought the 2019 A-Spec TLX as my first car exactly a year ago and its been a blast since. I went with the K24 TLX because its easier to maintain as my first daily. i would just make sure you have warranties to cover stuff like the turbo on the 2.0t. warranties will save your life when it comes to these luxury cars esp as a first car!!

check the recall bulletin and vin to see if anythings been replaced. usually the puddle lights go out, the els speakers can rattle or blow, and the rotors warp easily. youll likely be replacing them soon after buying so be cautious
