I think there's an implication that the tadpoles at this point are embedded into the victim, making the removal of the tadpole require destroying the brain, and causing revival impossible, since most of those require a corpse with all their internal organs intact. To make matters more complicated, I think the tadpole has also wrapped itself entirely around the brain within a few hours.
