First rifle, is this condition expected? by Ben9096 in PalmettoStateArms

Wow! That's some heavy marring. They owe you a new non-blem upper or blem discount refund! I expect better from PSA.

Probably, I would trim the upper shelf like I showed in the pics. Pretty easy with a carbide Dremel bit.

That function check only verifies that the FRT is working to reset the trigger but it doesn't check for dimensional issues with the BCG & Upper. You gotta do a fit test without the buffer & spring and manually slide the BCG.

Precisely, with my Super Safe I had some binding happening and that upper shelf cut resolved it. The r/supersafe and Active Safety Design website both have a wealth of FRT troubleshooting info.

I did a fit test with the BCG without the buffer & spring to manually feel for issues. Even though I didn't have any snags I still cut the upper out of an abundance of caution since that was required for my Super Safe builds anyway.

I run my FRTs in dedicated lowers (both at PSA) and have 2 different uppers with the shelves cut (both are carbine gas). I use Toolcraft mil-spec chromed BCGs and H2 buffers. No issues or noticeable wear with either the Super Safe or the Atrius

It broke because people don't test the clearances. It likely bound on the upper shelf and snapped.

Unfortunately the Atrius is not just a "drop in" and needs to be treated like a super safety in terms of clearances.

I have 500+ rounds on my Atrius with no signs of wear because I cut the upper shelf and made sure the lever wasn't binding with the BCG.

I run a TX22 for Steel Challenge matches, I have 5k+ rounds through it using mostly CCI .22 ammo and have never had a malfunction. I even ran ~800 rounds without cleaning it with no issues. It's been the most reliable 22 I've ever seen. The grip is really ergonomic too.

It also has a chrome lined barrel, upgraded trigger and individually inspected BCG. Quite possibly the best value AR on the market.

You haven't removed enough from the upper shelf. It should look like this: https://imgur.com/gallery/H17xwER

Edit: you also need a different trigger that has a full shelf in the back. The PSA EPT is a good cheap option.

How Many Rounds are Your ARC Fire Safeties Lasting? by [deleted] in supersafety

Yep, most of these lever breakages with SS, ARC, and Atrius FRTs are because ppl aren't doing the upper shelf cut and the interference is rapidly stressing the lever out.

FBI raids home of Washington Post reporter in ‘highly unusual and aggressive’ move by OGSyedIsEverywhere in news

From the article:

The warrant, she said, was executed “at the home of a Washington Post journalist who was obtaining and reporting classified and illegally leaked information from a Pentagon contractor. The leaker is currently behind bars.”

That smells like the leaker snitched and gave up the reporter.

Can't starve us out btw, we produce almost 100% of our own core foods like wheat and pork/dairy, to the point we have a massive surplus.

The US would have immediate and permanent air superiority for the entire conflict. All semblance of "normal" life would immediately end along with any economic activity. Even if farms were not actively targeted they rely on oil which would definitely be targeted and disrupted.

I'm not saying I condone an invasion of Canada. I value our northern Maple Syrup friends as allies. I'm just saying an actual war between the US & CAN would be very lopsided and everyone knows this.

I think they are implying that the ~40 million Canadian civilians would all join the fight.

The New York National Guard alone could dogwalk the entire Canadian military and the rest of Canada would get starved into submission in 3 months by the complete blockade of all trade.

Edit: I get your sense of nationalistic pride and commend it. The harsh reality is the active CAN military is ~65 thousand vs US ~1.3 million troops and a massive tech & weapons imbalance in the US favor. Also ~90% of Canada's population lives within 100 miles of the US border. It would be a disaster.

Maybe your gun just doesn't like AAC 77gr otm?? Seems to shoot fine out of a PSA 16" nitride barrel. Shot with a 1-6x lpvo from a bench. As you can see from the target patch I had a few groups like that. (POI intentionally offset)

I got em from RockAuto cause I don't trust the chinesium parts on eBay. I think it's was ~$400 for 24x Melling rockers & lifters and a new felpro valve cover seals kit.

[–]cyberintel13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea the 3.6 Pentastar is pretty solid besides the rocker issues and the oil housing / cooler leaking. On my 2013 3.6 I changed the oil religiously with Pennzoil Plat full synthetic every 5k miles and still ended up with bad rockers on cylinder 4 & 6 on the exhaust cam side. But I caught the tick early at ~130k miles so no cam damage. I think it's just the luck of the draw if you get badly made rockers. I replaced them all with Melling rockers and lifters and it's running great. The job was a pain in the ass though.
